Mission running is one of the most actively used sources for income in the EVE world. The two best ways to gain income in a mission is through bounties and salvaging the wrecks, however most of the time salvaging is out of the question. Ninja-salvagers are those who stalk other players in their missions with the intent to salvage the freshly supplied wrecks. A person running the mission would have no way of preventing this. While missioning would be many people's main, or only, source of income this could be quite distressing. It's one thing to scan and stumble upon an abandoned wreck, it's another thing to sit there and stalk like a vulture, Coming in at their own discretion. These ninja-salvagers display blatant intent to steal (antagonize, annoy, generally ****-off?) from the mission runner instead of simply cleaning up what's been left over. This is certainly disrupting game balance.
I would imagine the other side would argue that many mission runners don't salvage anyway, or that, "anybody is allowed to salvage any wreck at any possible time. Wrecks remain floating ship debris made out of raw materials and as such do not belong to anyone in particular." By that logic if I go out and shoot a deer someone would be allowed to run up and claim it stating, "Finders keepers. I was around to find it".
To solve this issue completely, and provide a sense of peace to mission runners, any Non-ally/non-fleet players who salvage, attack, destroy, or alter another's wreck in any way becomes the target of that antagonized player's kill rights. This would be an incentive for those swarms of 5-day-old characters to leave the mission pilots alone.
However I'm sure a compromise would be more effective at stabilizing this. Perhaps a wreck belongs to the player only as long as the mission is active?

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 18/05/2009 01:15:18 CCP has stated again and again that this is an intended mechanic. Mission running is already profitable enough. And, on top of this, I've probably run hundreds of level 4's since salvaging was added. Enough level 4's to accumulate around 300,000 LPs with one corp (although my sec status now prevents me from continuing this.) I have never once seen a ninja salvager. Never.
Move out of the hubs, guys. Missions are the easiest lunch in-game, but no lunch in Eve is free.

Simple solution: move to lowsec, kill the salvager as soon as they warp in. -----------

It's not an issue. It's like saying, if you mine the roid I'm mining then I should be able to attack you.

Have you tried not whining like a little girl the moment you are inconvenienced?
Devs have stated this is working 100% as designed. If you don't like it, then you can gtfo.

I fully support the mechanic change so that people attempting to salvage "your" wrecks become blinky red to you, just like when they loot your wrecks.
Perhaps after you've lost enough officer-fitted CNRs you'll come to realise that the best way to handle ninja salvagers is to leave the mission hub, and stop shooting the ninja salvagers.
They wouldn't be looting your wrecks and salvaging if they didn't have some kind of backup. Go ahead, shoot the blinky red ninja salvager and see how long your CNR/Golem lasts against a neut domi =)
Please quit your whining, and be careful what you wish for.
