Hello! If you are an active or past player of EVE-Online, I could really use your help for the thesis research I am conducting in order for me to obtain my multi-disciplinary masterĘs degree from Eastern Washington University, Cheney, Washington. I will be looking into learning economic principles through playing video games and would like to ask you a few questions. Below there is a link to a short survey. Before clicking on the link, know that the survey is offered on an entirely volunteer basis and that the survey is only intended for players over 18 as my survey has been approved for collecting data from adults. You do not need to answer every question and can skip questions or stop at any time.
If you have any concerns about your rights as a participant in this research or any complaints you wish to make, you may contact Ruth Galm, Human Protections Administrator, Office of Grant and Research Development (509)-359-7971/6567).
Sincerely, Nate Brantingham

Decided to fill it out instead of being a ****, like the vast majority of people will probably be.
That being said, I pretty much answered no to all the questions.

I would love to see the results of your research, or at least this survey, and I'm certain that others would be interested as well. Is this something that can be made available to us when it is finished?

This but the solution is simple: simply translate your level of education into the US education system as best you can. The basic levels of education are quite similar here - they just have different names.

Hi cat here
I went through the survey, adding additional comments to most fields. I pressed submit and got this:

This survey is currently closed. Please contact the author of this survey for further assistance.
That does not suggest to me that my results were submitted. Which is a terrible shame, as I thought my comments may have been interesting due to the nature of my employment.

That is a shame, and a frustration to us both. Originally the survey was OKed for 100 responses, which we filled much quicker than I anticipated (THANK YOU ALL!)
In light of how fast this filled up, we are going to up the allowed responses to 1000. In regards to your survey response in particular, I would be personally grateful if you went through the process again (annoying I know) because if nothing else, you have peaked my interest.
My apologies! -Nate |

I would like the share the results of the survey very much. If nothing else, I feel it would lead to very interesting discussions. Which I may shamelessly work into my thesis. In order to share it I would want the OK from both my university and from EVE Online. If both agree, I will gladly post the results.

The international education differences are an issue I was aware of going into this, but after running it by my international advisor I felt it was a minor issue. However, apparently I was wrong! My apologies if finding the equivalent level of education is difficult. I would adjust it or release a separate version for international players but that would require re-submitting it to the university for approval which would mean another few weeks minimum before I could post it. I may need to move forward knowing that the data may be moderately compromised. Anyone with experience in international and state side education able to explain what some of the equivalent levels would be for us?
All that said, the number of people who have filled out the survey has been fantastic and I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to fill it out. And a double thanks to those who got the 'survey is full' error and choose to go through it again!
Cat: I hope I get an A too!
