The corporate shares system really needs to be fixed. I am talking about the interface. Obviously they could make the shares system more robust, but this is about the interface.
Basically, one of the most valuable aspects of the entire game the shares system has received the least attention.
You can try this if you have alts to play around with. Put one name in the 'give shares' box. Click search. Nothing will happen visibly, it won't highlight the name with a hyperlink, it won't come up with the box where you choose the character you are looking for like it does in the people and places search. Nothing happens.
Now, put another charcters name in it. Don't click search just click OK. The shares will go to the first character name. So if you make a typo, you're ****ed. CCP will not intervene, it's done. It doesn't come up with a window asking you if you are sure. It doesn't come up with a window notifying you of what has just occurred, the shares just go to that first toon.
The fix I propose. Make it harder to give away your corporation than it is to trash a Velator. When you want to trash things an, "Are you sure?", message comes up. You cannot set the preference on this to not come up, it ALWAYS comes up. Set something up like this, that not only asks you if you are sure but comes up with the toon's name and their buddy icon. Also, when you click search, hyperlink the name so that you are clear as to what it does. Also, make it so that if a searched toon is selected it shows in the same window as the currently selected toon. And last but not least, whatever toon's name is in there when you click OK, that should be who it goes to.
That's my interface revamp suggestion.
How I'd ideally like to see it. Give a grace period of escrow when transferring shares. It takes you 24 hours to leave a corp, or 24 hours to join an alliance or 24 hours for war to start, why not have 24 hours with corp shares? Setup a trade that when activated takes 24 hours to process and includes whatever is being traded for the shares whether it be goods or isk, like a contract that can be revoked up until the last minute. This would reduce scamming greatly and would add a safeguard to this very important function.
