Hi all
After the Apocrypha release I was not more able to play EVE. As soon the scenary was loaded I got a Windows warning telling me the adapter was not working properly, the screen became 640x480 and just 4 colors and system crashed. My card is an ATI Radeon Mobility 5700, and supposed to support SM 2.0, and my laptop a Toshiba Satellite P30-145. And not chance to get updated drivers. ATI is not giving new drivers for laptop customers, they address you to your maker. The maker has not updated drivers for a discontinued model. So finally I went to AMD web site, where luckyly I found a link to another site: http://www.omegadrivers.net/ They are genius, their driver made my card working again. Full features. No probs at all. And they have drivers for ATI and Nvidia cards that update old models, so if you have problems just go there, read the readme file, follow the instructions and install the driver. You, like me, will be a happy one again. See you out there.

Good info. I dont have an old comp, but seeing as how 3/4ths of the EVE player base are using comps similar to that of a dying donkey, and or 92 Toyota corolla; it should be helpful.
Still wonder why EVE players are so conservative with using older comps. I get if you can't afford one...but other than that no excuses... _________________________

For the record, I used omegadrivers a while back when I was having some driver issues and they worked just fine.

A friend of mine drives a 92 Toyota Corolla still. It's got over 300,000 miles on it already and it still runs just fine. Worst problem he ever had with that car was when some bonehead told him to put dextron in his master cylinder reservoir. OOPS.

I'd have the eve playerbase down as one who'd maybe only play just eve; ergo fairly ****ty computers.
that being said, with about ú300 and reusing opticals+hdds you can build yourself a fairly decent PC.
