This issue is really odd. I was always playing in fullscreen mode, but recently i thought i'll gonna try to play window mode as it seems to be more handy when playing on two accounts at once. And the odd thing is that if i switch from fullscreen to window fps drops from 70 to 40, and game is a little bit choppy (you can just notice something is wrong) when rotating camera etc.
My pc specs are: core 2 duo 2,5Ghz 2gb ram nvidia 9600 here are my game settings: image
I've installed newest graphic drivers, newest directx, even reinstalled my xp to check if system wasn't broken or something. And still in window mode fps drops. I don't have any apps running in background but firewall, firefox...
Funny thing is that it dosen't drop always, sometimes after jumping or logging fps seems to be ok and nothing is choppy, but its pretty much random and (unfortunatelly) rare. Also window mode is just fine on my Win7-rc. So seems like something wrong with XP...
Friend suggested me it could be some memory leaks in eve client, but why on win7 everything works fine then? People are telling me everything is fine with their window mode, so i'm really out of ideas... how to fix it or at least what causes it.

set 'interval default' to 'interval one' (caps at 60FPS)

This interval thing is kinda broken for windowned mode i think. Interval immediate will give you full fps

Fullscreen direct3d will always outperform windowed mode direct3d unless there's something wrong with the code. Working as intended.

Didn't use to. I use to be able to get same or better fps in windowed mode compared to FS.

I had like that in classic, but in premium I got better fps in fullscreen. The funny thing is, my old PC (which I used then, and still use for scouting/etc) can easily run 3-4 fullscreen clients with good, stable fps. But as soon as I run two clients windowmode, it drops quite low.
I don't have that issue with my new PC tho, running on a better gfx card (both old/new is nVidia btw), and on Vista (old one is XPpro).
My new PC got interval default, and more or less max settings, still getting good fps (occationally 250-300 on dual monitor) with 2-3 clients running, windowmode.
My only guess is there's something with the premium + XP that makes the OS suck resources from the game when it's running windowmode. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |
