depends what you enjoy doing. If you like mining then the Bantam is a good choice, or if you like killing npc/agent missions a merlin or kestrel would suit you fine.

kestrel if u want a missile boat (probably one of the best all round frigs imo) or merlin if u want a mix of turrets and missiles.
Personally id go with the kestrel. if doing missions or rat hunting fit it out with 4 standard launchers, MWD or AB and woteva else u want. Get yaself a BPC for bloodclaw light missiles and ur pretty much sorted. Just dont mine in it

Edited by: Jubba theMad on 08/09/2004 10:47:44 Kestral also has speed and a good cargo hold if a little trading/convoy hunting is your bag - but you don't say how much cash you have, note both ships mentioned cost 200k plus to buy and outfit. For something cheap to get out of a noob ship either a Bantam (mining/transport) or condor (rat hunting/missions) cost sod all (20-30k). ------------------------------------------------

Merlin is fun, but to really get performance out of it, you really need to have the right skills, especially in engineering, navigation, targeting, missiles, and small hybrids. Then you can take it to .5 and hunt rats in belts, and get some Scout 125 rails, named shield booster and shield extender, Malkuth launchers, maybe even named afterburners from the stuff they drop.
Make sure you have enough cap recharge skills and items installed to support firing your guns AND keeping the shield booster on.
