Since the duping bug was fixed, the price of Dysprosium and it's compounds had increased, while the price of all other moon minerals and reactions has plummeted.
I remember reading a question from a CCP person wondering why Dysprosium is in such high demand, compared to other R64 moon mins. I belive it has to do with the advanced production stage of Ferrogel and Fermionic Condensates.
All moons produce 100 units an hour. All simple reactions produce 200 units an hour and require 200 units an hour in input.
Ferrogel complex reaction produces 400/hour. Fermionic Condensates yields 200 an hour.
Other reactions produce up to 10,000 units an hour.
Poke around http://eve.stop-clan.de/tools/lookup.php for more details. I'm not in the mood to write them all out, or to check Jita prices and multiply hourly output by per unit price.
The problem isn't Dysprosium scarcity. The problem is the imbalance in the yields of the complex reactions.
Solving the problem is simple. Double the output of both advanced reactions, and halve the size of the item (Silos fill just as quickly, transport is no more difficult). Justify it as increased efficiency in the use of these products - we can do just as much with half as much, (m3 wise)!

The output is actually in line with the rest if you look at what level (i.e r32 vs r16 vs r64) moon minerals are taken to produce the complex reaction.
They introduced alchemy to combat this problem. The only problem with that was that alchemy was/is ridiculously inefficient.
What they *really* need to do is make a special alchemy reactor that only accepts a maximum of one silo as an input, forcing the other to be a moon harvester. This alchemy reactor would then have double the output or unrefinned.
It wouldn't be a blanket boost to alchemy, only to people who have control over one of the required moons.
In my opinion, its the moonless low sec reactor poses run by people manipulating the market for their own gain thats causing the price disparity... not a game flaw. - In essence, any combat related activity involving damage has been 'speed nerfed' to just take 6 times longer with a predetermined outcome coined balance by CCP. |
