What is it that people get out of knowing who their competitors are? Do you sell me those meager 100 ammo, see who I am in your transaction log, then add me to your buddy list and bump up your prices by 0.01 isk as soon as I log off?
I haven't actually had this happen to me yet, but it's the only reason I can see for doing it.

Basically yes. When i'm updating my orders and i see my competitor log in i wait till he starts updating his.I follow him precisely 3 orders behind. Then when he is done i wait for about half an hour till i update the last 3 that are left.
He logs off or goes on with other business thinking his orders are on top and i can log off knowing all orders for that night will go into my pocket.Even if he notices his orders are not on top he will wait for at least 4 hours till he updates them. That's my extra profit i wouldn't have if i didn't know who my competitors are.
Childish?Maybe but it gives me such a good feeling knowing how i can tease someone away from my region doing so.Specially for people like me who are not online that much and can use that extra profit this method is verry usefull.

You realize that mission loot ammo drops in blocks of 100 at a time, right?
If I want intel, I buy/sell 1 unit, not 100.

You'd be surprised how much information you can get out of the sale of 100 units of ammo. For instance, I know your boxer shorts (not briefs) are blue and you live on 6th street.

As above, when he logs on I get ready to engage in some 0.01 isk market shenanigans, although he has started raising by 1000 isk now. Sometimes I wave in local but there's no wave back, I send flowers but no phone call, I follow him home but he doesn't let me in... I just can't get a date with this guy.

Ive actually have worked out some deals with some industrialists by finding out what time they log on, rather than sending an Evemail.

I normally do not give a hoot. Who cares, I don't, if they do, well, who cares.

Tried this myself before.Get into private chat with the competition to see if they are interested to higher our profit per item and share time.Say i get after DT till 24 and he then get's till DT.Lower the buy order price a lot since most people just click sell without checking the pricetag. If it's just you and one competitor in a region for regional buy orders i would find this a good way to earn isk and a LOT less work since you only update max once a day on a big chunk of items.
None ever wanted to make this deal however.

Knowledge is power. You can't target a competitor if you don't know who they are. |

-Most importantly knowing your market. Who do you play against and what are their habits. -The ability to know who plays which markets. -Adjusting price after log off. -War Decs. -John Doe Trader locking techniques. IE opening a trade window, sending a convo, petitioning, etc.
