This. Especially for someone who's mostly a casual missioning carebear (yes, yes, put the torches and pitchforks away until after answering, please). I'm cross-training from Gallente, and between the Brutix and Myrmidon you theoretically have the Myrmidon in the standoff/droneboat role and the Brutix in the close-up blaster role. But the difference between the Prophecy and the Harbinger just seems to be that everything about the Harbinger is bigger and better (including of course the price tag). For tanking, is the resistance bonus the Prophecy gets enough to cancel out its comparative deficiency in capacitor and fittings?

Yes. Two reasons, and their both actually pretty good:
1. It is much cheaper.
2. It has a much stronger tank.
That is all. Even so, the ungodly DPS of the Harby outweighs both of those reasons 97/100 times, so that's why you only ever hear about the Harbinger around here. Yes, I roll a legion. |

An extra 25m3 of drone space on the harbie is also very handy for missioning as well since you can pack 4 Lights and 3 Mediums, the extra mid slot means it can be refitted for PvP easily.

Looks, nothing more really. It's better at being bait I guess.

Prophecy = teh sex. Harbie = decent looking. However, on another note, I now have one of those annoying sigs. |

No reason, really, unless you want to be a bait ship.

Proph makes a good lvl 3 mission runner if you have crap skills.
Proph can be fit with projectiles for a nasty surprise.

if price isn't a big issue, Harbinger is in most cases better. It can put out more dps(quite a bit more, one more turret and a damage bonus), has the magic 4 midslots and can use 5 medium drones where the prophecy only has 5 lights, 3 mids with a good tank but dps of a paper bag. Prophecy can be good pvp bait with the resist bonus and also could be used as a heavy tackler that locks on like a bulldog and doesn't let go.

You can make an Absolution out of a Prophecy.

Edited by: TraininVain on 25/05/2009 04:35:00 It can mount a really chewy buffer tank basically along with all the "creative" things you can do with no gun bonus (is having no good gun bonus really a positive?).
If you don't mind loldps (as opposed to blah DPS) you can mount a thoroughly ridiculous buffer tank.
Mind you, the Drake can have more EHP and more DPS.
And truly, I do like it because it looks cool.

I recently flew it again after burning a few harbs, just for kicks...
it rly has nothing the harb cannot do (besides look and awesome bait) but that doesn't even put it in the category of useful.

Use a better MWD for less cap penalty and tank for longer. Since you are spending lots of isk on it anyways might as well make it better. |

If you fit it out for full gank (that is, no tank at all) you can get something like 500-600 dps and be safe in the knowledge that no one primarys a Prophecy in gang fights.
That's its only real use in my opinion. |

An overweight turkey looks much nicer than a crucifix with a Lego Bionicle helmet.
I flew Prophecy for level 3, and now use it to rat. Fitted with T2 Heavy Pulse it can do over 370 DPS, over 410 if I used Faction crystals, and can comfortably tank the BS/BC spawns.
6x Heavy Pulse II Salvager I
10mn MWD X5 Webber Med Cap Booster II, 400 (or whatever I find)
2x T2 Energized platings Damage Control II 2x Heat Sink II 1x Small Armour Repairer II (I lack grid to fit a Medium, and small works fine)
5x Hobgoblin II
unrigged
With access to the same modules and skills, a Harbinger will do better, as even though it can't tank as well it will reduce incoming DPS faster. Harbinger will also be able to fit a point, so that you can hold the pirates there rather than let them slip away. My Prophecy is really cheap to lose, though.
Compared to the Harbinger, the Prophecy loses out in CPU, Powergrid, turret hardpoints, high slots, mid slots, shields, armour (despite being the tankier battlecruiser) and drone bay. The only thing it can do which the Harbinger can't is equip a solitary launcher for what it's worth. Prophecy really needs at least an extra mid or low (although 7 is a lot for a BC) slot to have a numerical reason to use it. Granted, it's a Tier 1, supposedly an inferior model to the Tier 2, but the Cyclone, Brutix and Ferox all have certain roles in which they do better than the Hurricane, Myrm and Drake, so the Prophecy is a bit disappointing - looking nicer (and even it's subjective - the Harbinger has its fair share of fans) and being able to tank better (at least at higher Battlecruiser levels) is not quite a reason to choose it over the Harbinger.
At the end of the day, just fly it if you prefer it. Prophecy is not a bad ship, in fact, it's pretty good. It's just that the Harbinger is really really uber at what it does. A Harbinger is more effective, but a Prophecy is good enough for level 3s and ratting. |

basically THAT!
Same reason why bellicoses are indestructable. No FC would even call a bellicose primary. In fact he woudl think "omg I must be high if I am seeing a bellicose on field, I won 't even call it as target or other pilots might notice I am high" |

Well, plunge it into the midst of a bunch of frigs and you might kill a few...tho, without the siege, it could definately fit better plates. |
