alright, past the 14 day trail, paying for the game now. overall level of satisfaction is about 90%...but a few niggling problems are driving me crazy...basic things that I think everyone has come to expect and when they happen in a game that to me is superior to any other MMORPG or game I have played in a Looong time just drive me crazy.
First off, I am super impressed with the petition system and the GM quality and level of assistance, and gotta say keep up the great work yu guys! Last night I had an agent mission problem and GM gusto helped me within 5 minutes and corrected? the bug.
Now, on to myy *****ing and moaning....
1. this forum is ridiculously slow. Im on a T3 and this is the only website that causes me any grief of the multitude of websites I visit everyday. The forum is slower than molasses at -45 degrees. I really don't care why, I just have to say...get in gear and fix this, I find this completely unacceptable!
2. 7 days now..no picture for my character on my forum posts..minor annoyance...but HELP!
3. Stair stepping in the game...im using an ATI 9800, have tried every tweak out there to make this game look better, and everything does look better, but god help me i cant get rid of the stair stepping in some of the red/blue/green systems...happens around the suns and when looking directly top down or down to top of my ship at the systems nebulas and such....tried z-buffer tweaks, everything possible, i cannot get this to go away 100%...if the game didnt look so good in the first place i might not notice it, but since it looks sooo close to perfect this TINY little flaw drives me...CRAZY..any advice and help on this would be appreciated.
4. Fix the forums...yeah...this is a joke..cmon yu guys! And add a search function..god every game on the planet/every free forum, every idiot can build a searchable forum...every forum has a search function, and here i pay to play monthly and i cant search the forums without using google? Maybe time to hire a new website designer guys!

PS - yu guys rule! this game is awesome...probably why I can't help but complain as the better the game the worse the minor annoyances seem

I even MOD these forums on my PocketPC at work, starbucks, and at the mall and I don't notice any lag either (through wifi). When I MOD these at home, Im on Cable. I wish I could help you more on this issue.
The Avatar issue: You should be getting an exclamation point rather than a red X. However it does take several days for it to switch to your portrait (should be any day now)

Aye.. no lag for me as well. Must be something on your side, bud...
me, I am at about 70ms for 157.157.173.193
Maybe its a router on your way to the server there...

The Avatar issue: You should be getting an exclamation point rather than a red X. However it does take several days for it to switch to your portrait (should be any day now)
It's a very big routing problem CCP is coping with. The international connections of the backbone where the eve server is on are disapointing to say the least. This makes the game pages rather slow for certain european countries.
I personally would drop on my knees for CCP to get hooked up on a better backbone ... but hey, i'm just a numble player :)

- When I hit reply to post or quote it just reloads the page, then I have to hit it again.
- The back button NEVER works, I have to reselect the forum I want to go back to from the very top of the page.
- No search function is seriously a pain in the arse.
But.
We need to remember that this web site, including these forums is directly linked to the game so there's probably some behind the scenes bugs we are not aware of.
One more point. The game is coded with Stackless Python which has a lot of bugs in itself. If you visist the Stackless Python (SP) website you'll notice that CCP actually submits lots and lots of bug reports so the game and these forums can opnly be as good as SP will allow it to be.

- When I hit reply to post or quote it just reloads the page, then I have to hit it again.
- The back button NEVER works, I have to reselect the forum I want to go back to from the very top of the page.

Alright,
I'll try to clarify this. every forum on the internet in any area of the world that I have in the past 6 months accessed from this connection is fast...as in instantly loads. Except the EVE forums.
I also know I am not the only person having these problems with the eve forums. There are no technical issues on my end causing the EVE website to load slowly. While I appreciate the feedback regarding this, in my case this does not apply. This is definitely a CCP problem.

Alright,

I can answer that problem, if you are not logged on (it doesnt do it automatically) then when u first hit reply it logs you on, then you have to press it again to actually reply.

I can answer that problem, if you are not logged on (it doesnt do it automatically) then when u first hit reply it logs you on, then you have to press it again to actually reply.

The forum lag is very strange.
If I access the forum it is horribly slow, whether i am logged into the site or not.
HOWEVER, when i access the forum while actually playing eve at the same time, it works very quickly.
Try playing eve windowed and fire up your browser and come to the forums and see how it runs :)
