Howdy Scammers, Pirates, and Greedy Pigs alike!
I was wondering if there is a compilation of common EVE scams floating around somewhere, or at least something to help get ideas.
Certainly it is easy to avoid them, but based on a lot of the player I've been encountering...

For half what Rez was asking (so thats 250M for the mathematically challenged) I can provide you with a list of all the common scams in eve just as you asked. It wont provide you with all the extras that a book on scamming will include (like how to influence peoples decision making ability) but its a really handy quick reference to find out of its a scam or legit.
I'm also happy to make it in to a print friendly PDF so you can print it out and stick it to your monitor if you want it close by all the time.

Scams? Frankly just take anything that was written in a chat, or said over Fleet/Private Audio channels with a grain of salt. Agree to what you see in the market and trades, and you'll be fine till you start learning how they work out.
Getting scammed is easy if you trust people, so don't. Trust the numbers instead.

I don't know if its a common scam, but there are eve character scams. Last year I was trying to purchase a character from the Character for Sale section of this website, and got scammed by some guys for 3.6 billion ISKs. I was not very happy about that, but I didn't have to worry. CCP came down like an atom bomb on the guys that scammed me, and not only did I get my ISKs back, but the guys (3 of them) got their accounts suspended.

Of course it is not a common scam as character sales scams are one of the few scams that are not allowed and are bannable.

We here at the IEEE have an exhaustive list of scams, their apparent effects on the eve economy on a micro and macro level, as well as lists of standard practices and verbiage to be used while attempting said scams.
They are available on our private forums available for a small monthly subscription fee, or for single time fees we can provide links to individual documents.
Forum access is 450 million isk per month. Sending isk to any agent with 'Forum Access' as the reason for the isk transfer.
One time documents are available for 40 million isk. Please send isk to any IEEE agent with the document ID in the 'reason' section. (Document ID's should include the number sign as well as any periods, dashes and version letters and numbers)
Document requests are processed within 24 hours normally. Forum access is done once per week on Tuesday unless the agents are busy at which point it should happen on Wednesdays.
A complete document list is available upon request (and 40 million isk payment) A sample list of document ID's and titles are below.
