I do a wide variety of pvp.. Small fleets, large fleets, RR, nano, solo. You name it, we do it. I want to know if there is a well rounded ship out there that excels at just about everything pvp? Something that can be refit on the fly to suite whatever it is you're about to do.. Obviously, no ship is perfect and can't do it all. I am talking about T1-T2 frigs, T1-T2 cruisers, T1-T2 BC's and BS's. be creative.

If you got the money, I like to run around in a Sleipnir. Can pretty much adapt to most needs, and it's got a nice tank set up right, but i'll leave that up to you! :)

I use the typical Valhalla setup, found on eve-clinic. Sure I've switched things up but the main point is:
(Highs) 7x 220mm Vulcan II's 1x Med Nos (Your Choice)
(Meds) XL Shield Booster II Named MWD Named Med Cap Booster Warp Disruptor II Invul Field II
(Lows) 2x Gryo II's 1x Power Diagnostic System II 1x Co-Procssor II 1x Internal Force Field Array
(Rigs) 1x CC1 1x Anti-Kinetic Screen
You could also swap the CC1 for another Anti-Kinetic screen, but they stack horribly in my opinion. Reason for the named is to make room for the XL Booster, which you'll need tweaking in gameplay to burst it, can't leave that thing on all day! Use your cap booster with 800's to help out. Overrall this set-up with proper skills will give the following results:
DPS: +/- 400 Tank: 825/5s with full Sleip skills Resists: With 2x Anti-Kinetic screen: 76/75/77/69 With 1x CC1 and 1x Anti-Kinetic screen: 76/75/77/60ish
You can activate that MWD to get in rangem then well, the 220mm's start pounding. 220mm's over 450mm's for PG issues and well, with proper skills takes out alot of your fun little medium sized friends!

Use a core defense capacitor safeguard instead of ccc imo.

I use anti-kin and ambit extension (effectively a damage mod), and a 3rd gyro instead of PDU personally. Or, I'll go with 2 gyros and 2 nanos for a nice speed boost (1.5kms, which is enough to dictate range to any BC and give t2 cruisers second thoughts).
Also, crucial, a med neut, not a nos. Need it to shut down ***goty little ceptors that try to orbit you at exactly 9km and keep your mwd turned off. Can't track em, and I've had little success with warriors on em. Neut 'em, and well, dinner is served.
A far sounder setup than most posted. The sleipnir is not a muninn (artys), nor is it a vaga (LSE IIs).

I would say that a HML Drake is a pretty dam versatile ship.
- 70km Range with Faction ammo
- Shield buffered (auto repaired)
- 400-450 DPS
- Capable dealing damage to a wide variety of targets
- Selectable damage type
- Decently agile, no cap boosters required, does not have to dive into scram range

I agree except for agility :S unless you like to put an inertia stab on yours. the king of versatility is definatly the ishtar though.

yup...
Big drones bays and lots of slots make for versatility. Active/passive shield tanks or AR tanks, good damage, ability to fit almost any mods...

Heh, a lot of people underestimate the drake, Fit for DPS it does reasonable damage, and if you don't need the Point, you can fit a remote assistance module or two in the mids. And you'll almost always be targeted last

Ishtar is still the swiss army knife. Can do about anything... Shield tank, armor tank, passive tank, speed tank (I miss nanos). You can deal any kind of specific damage you want to, don't have to be cap intensive. Carry backups, don't have to carry ammo. There are no limits to the versatility of the Ishtar. I love my ishtar....

Pretty much any drone boat, whether Gallente (ishkur, ishtar, domi) or Amarr (arbi, curse, pilgrim). Having drones as your main weapon system frees you up to do all kinds of things with your ship, that ships that have to fit turrets and/or launchers could never do.

Typhoon is arguably more versatile, it adds missiles to the plate, arguably unlike a Dominix it can't really be shield tanked. -- 081014 : emoragequit, char transfered to a friend, 090317 : back to original owner blog |
