Edited by: Leana Darkrider on 27/05/2009 09:13:49 using a blockade runner. you must be able to warp very fast so faction police doesn't have the time to scan your cargo and stop you for moving contraband.
You also might want to use the serpentis snake implants set to improve your smuggling skills.
ps, wrong forum, this should be in ships and modules

I don't know how big are this booster stuff, but if it's small then you can try to use a small fast ship.

Boosters need 1m3 cargo space. So in a fast frigate, you can move 120 boosters at once.

Snake implants won't help at all. They just increase your velocity. Nomad ones however, with their agility boost, will.
I just use a fast frig (atron in this case). Never been caught, and in one occasion, I had to leave my alt afk in a gate with 100 exiles in the cargo.

Check attributes on snake implants again and you will see you are wrong.

Cloakers are typically fine, seeing as my prorator carry 10,921.6 m3 with ti rigs (boosters are 1m3) which should suffice for most people, unless you're doing en masse and require a freighter. I don't know how efficient that is though, once you've paid for protection. I don't remember which merc corp was hired to take out customs in jita last year, but they succeeded in shifting the freighter in but quite how many boosters you need to have in your freighter to make that worthwhile i don't want to know

Interesting, the implants gives the well known speed bonus but also a smuggling chance bonus according to the "attributes" tab.
Does anyone know if that smuggling bonus really works, the smuggling related skill (that was removed and was only available in a specific character creation path prior to Apocrypha) didn't actually work at all. Might be the same for this bonus, anyone knows?
Also the smuggling chance bonus is not described as the secondary effect, so I assume it is not amplified by the omega implant if it works at all.

Does that thing even work? And if so, how?

If it does, there really is no accurate measurable data that we could use to check so since all the calcs are done outside our scope of observation.
I chalk it up as one of those D20 rolls the DM would never tell you about but will eventually screw you over halfway through the campaign. |

It was confirmed years ago that the smuggling system is broken, and I understand the snake implant attribute is broken. CCP just gave up on it.
Basically smuggling boils down to enter warp as quickly as possible, and hope that you don't get any lag.

A few months ago I was moving assets on my freighter alt. I wasn't really paying attention, and hadn't noticed that I was carrying boosters - I'd meant to do a second run in my Prowler.
So halfway through my 8 jump highsec route I hit "jump". The gate activated and I got the "Jumping" message... but then I got a traffic-control message, followed by a Customs message telling me that I was warp-scrambled and to pay a fine and surrender the boosters, or get blown up! Oh noes!
Since I was carrying a few hundred million ISK of boosters, I didn't really want to give them up... but since I was carrying about 10 billion cargo, I didn't really want to get blown up either. But how could they be warp-scrambling me if I was in mid-jump? Was this happening in the next system, and I just hadn't loaded grid yet?
I wondered whether a quick logoffski would work, but then decided to just take the confiscation and not risk the rest of the cargo. So I clicked to accept the fine, confiscation and standings loss. My mail flashed, telling me of standing loss, fine and confiscation... but I was still traffic-controlled. I spammed "jump" a few times and this time it worked. But when I loaded grid in the next system, I still had the boosters in cargo, even though I'd received a mail telling me that they'd been confiscated.
I docked up and carried the boosters the rest of the way in Prowler. Two gates further on, in max-agility cloaked Prowler, Customs somehow got me again, again as I jumped through a gate. Again, they said they'd confiscated the boosters... and again, they were still in cargo when I loaded grid the other side.
TLDR lolcustoms.
