Which situation would you prefer?
assuming: fps quality servers with no lag, bug free games, etc
(1.) Eve how it is currently.
-fly all ship types
-gunnery aimed by computers
-fly your ship with point-double click
(2.) Shooter style
-you can only fly ships BC and lower
-you aim your guns with a cross hair
-fly your ship manually (more like console space/flight games)
Remember this is hypothetically speaking. I'm not criticizing either style, I'm just wondering which you would prefer. I would assume, since this is the eve forum, most would prefer (1.).

Though I have good twitch-skills myself, a lot of the EVE playerbase is older and/or has crappier twitch skills. Making EVE combat rely more on stuff like that would be detrimental in a game that is currently all about planning.

how about 1, with elements of 2?
i'm pretty happy with how ships work in EvE, but if you could give your ships a nudge in the right direction with, say, the cursor keys, that would be just dandy.

2. sounds like a fun game.

well if you could have up to 8 crosshairs... lol that would be too hard to aim without a 2nd player aiming the guns

Remember, EVE is a sandbox and other MMOs are rock gardens.
Pretty rocks can be collected, but collecting sand is pointless.
Instead build a sandcastle and keep it from being knocked down. |

All of the guns would be grouped into 1 cross hair probably.

2 would be wonderful. My friends agree that drone FPS would be very fun with a joystick and crosshairs. I think it should be implemented as a mini game in EVE. It would be very cool to take control of a drone and dogfight.

I can't believe there are still threads like this. Manual control of your ship would completely destroy eve. Can't people take the time to think for two seconds?
