The other day, I was browsing the market, and came across the transport ships. I figured that since I make routine trips into nullsec, they might be handy, with all of their bonuses. But then, I look at the price tag... and they cost nearly as much as a tech 1, tier 1 battleship. My question is: are they worth getting? I got skillz, yo! You know how I know that? Cuz I got skillz!!! |

Very yes. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

My viator is the best isk I've every spent. Can't beat a cov ops hauler for low / null sec. But watch for bubbles And keep in mind the cov ops variety will not fit nearly as much as an iteron V. If you don't use gallente haulers, you should.

Weird as it sounds, cloaky transport is one of the best ships in game, imo.
I roll with cloak, mwd, agility fitting. __________________________________________________________

Blockade Runners are invaluable for running cargo through unsafe areas.
Deep Space Transports can be nice as well since you can fit enough tank on them that they can get shot and not die in two volleys and have enough warp strength to overcome a single scram without fitting stabs, but they're really slow and should always be escorted. Still better than a T1 indy for hauling big, valuable items (such as pacakaged T2 cruisers and POS towers) through unsafe areas though, in my opinion. |

Edited by: Chomapuraku on 29/05/2009 17:55:35 good lord, yes.
blockade runners are a frickin godsend for anyone looking to haul a few thousand m3 many jumps through dangerous space. they can fit cov ops cloaks, align as fast as an inty (if fitted for agility), and survive a punch-up if you have to double-back to a gate. they can even use black ops jump portals. they're so good that i'm seriously considering training for and buying a black ops to bridge my corpies around gatecamps.
deep space transports, on the other hand, are a good alternative to the itty v if you've already trained hauler 5 for another race. all of them can carry 30-40k m3, and have 2 built-in warp stabs. they're particularly good for 0.0 and plex mining where you face hefty rats (or gankers that only have one or two points)
edit: and both ships are good for hauling high-value items through empire and not getting suicide ganked. i can't tell you how much faction and deadspace loot we've picked from the wreckage of someone who thought their pith x-type tankwas safe in a tin can.

Combat Prowler also puts out around 100 DPS with a single blaster and makes for some lulzy killmail whoring.
