Edited by: Highlord Nicolai on 29/05/2009 13:34:35 I saw another post about how another game just got announced to be the biggest in-game environment ever constructed.
However unlike in that thread where people kept saying "eve is bigger!" and the likes, I started to wonder...
Is each system one big instance, or is the coordinated areas instance generated? What I mean is, if you went off moving towards a planet of the other side of the system, would you ever reach it? And if so, is it cause you moved through actual pre-existing space, or is space (the game environment) generated around your ship, moving through coordinate system?
If the latter is true, then EvE wouldn't be the biggest, as it doesn't have any real environment, although it is a fairly brilliant illusion. ------------------------------------------------
"Believe you can or cant, either way your right", If you can figure this sentence out, your life will be complete. Thats the truth! |

i heard a story that players managed to get to jove space once by slowboating there but there was no session change involved so it was pretty boring lol

It is impossible to physically go from one system to another without a session change (as stated by cat) although it is possible to "appear" to go from one system to another when looking at the 3d map.

Weeks? just weeks?
1 AU is 149598000 km.
That means that if you travel 6km per second (all out snakes and stuff could probably get an interceptor up to that speed these days and still remain cap stable) it would still take:
149598000 /6 (km/s) /60 (converting to minutes) /60 (converting to hours) /24 (converting to days)
288 days and a fraction.
And that's 1 AU. There are numerous systems in EVE that would take a lifetime to cross from gate to gate if you had to cruise manually. Now it takes less than a minute. ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. It's given freely and only grudgingly withdrawn. |

Hello Cat
You could get to jove space at one point but you could not just fly there. The way you did it was to do with moving your clone ( befor jumps clones) from the station where it was created to a station in jove empire, but they stopped that now.
