When someone scoops your drones, the 'thief' should be flagged.
I lost connection yesterday when I had my Ogre II's out, and came back to find someone taking my Ogre II's..
Not a whine thread, since it's only a couple of mil, but still.. can get very annoying when you have to travel to get some more drones cause someone got away with taking them.
Would like discussion, not troll or flame please.
Thanks. _________

I don't like it. There are perfectly good drones floating around all over space these days. People should be able to scoop 'em up and put them to good use. ~ Santiago Fahahrri Galactic Geographic |

if you dissconnect drones should automaticly return to the drone bay but if the ship warps out before they retur then when you log back in you should be able to reconnect to them like a probe

I agree with this. The OP is a bandaid fix for a problem that shouldn't be there. ---

I agree with the idea that you should be able to reconnect to your drones in the event of a disconnect or warp out and warp back (since they end up looking the same to the drones).
I could especially see this as being useful for carrier pilots, since they may not even be on the grid with the drones when they d/c (I think?).
But scooping unattended (i.e. uncontrolled) drones shouldn't be a flaggable offense. Fix the real problem, don't compound the error. --Vel

as long as they are connected to you, they cant be stolen.
If you warped off... then you left them in space as junk to be picked up. Really just bad performance and choices on your part.

Taking loving care of poor, abandoned drones is not a crime. Abandoning is. Au contraire, stealing control of drones would seem to be a useful addition to current warfare.
As for the HelloKittyOnline comment: people crying for Concord help whenever a bad, bad thief steals anything else (cans, loot, etc.) from them are not really entitled to ridicule other greedy bastards. Stealing should not be considered any different from scamming people out of their money.

If it's sitting in space it's salvage...
Annoyingly sometimes I can scoop the drones of a recently vanquished ship (my kill or anyone elses), but sometimes I try to scoop a drone and the game adamantly refuses since it does not 'belong to me' (tho the owner's a wreck & corpse 1500 meters away).
Everything 'drone' related in eve is borked. Granted, it's far better than it once was, but is far from efficient. After all, why Can't I launch a ECM, a Web, & a sentry at the same time?

Anyway you can no more leave an abandoned litter of drones than you can leave kittens abandoned at the roadside. It would be cruel and heartless.

I cover at least 50% of my Tech II drone demand from the remains of the battlefields. No matter how many drones I could possibly lose that way, it would never make up for what I gain from it. I like it. |

Edited by: Kaylan Jahlar on 24/06/2009 18:50:58 I'm not for this idea as stated, but I would be for some sort of system where your drones go back in your drone bay before you warp to the random safe spot automatically.

Agreed. Personally though, I'd like to see a "Reconnect" button like there is with probes, but that'd be a different proposal |

I think the "Drones in distant space" needs to be fixed. If you forget them or disconnect and then come back, "reconnecting" to your drones to regain control would not only make sense, but would be very helpful.
Others have stated that "drones are free loot" like salvage; I disagree to this - maybe they are now, but I think this should be changed. Lost drones and salvage are hardly the same thing. Salvage can be intentionally left, however, when drones are left I think everyone can assume it was not the owners intention; In the case of disconnecting, it can't be helped.
I fully support the OP. |

Virus, imagine if everyone in jita had their drones out, which they don't currently cause of lag and loss of drones.
Just consider it.
I know it sucks, I've lost plenty and stopped letting them out. What we need is quicker launch and attack for drones.
