If I form a fleet with my buddy and I jettison something, can he take the jetissoned items without the consequences of steeling from another persons container?

No...but the only "consequences" are that the owner of the container can shoot at the guy who stole.

If my buddy takes my jettisoned cargo, other than giving me shooting rights, will his security rating go down?

If you form a fleet and you jettison something then he can take from your can without you getting the right to shoot him anyway. That is part of the point of forming a fleet in the first place.

Correct. However, if the owner is docked or not in system you WILL get flagged, even when in fleet.

Ah ... that's interesting.
Cause I have seen where people got flagged for taking from another fleet member's can sometimes but not others. That would explain that.
The solution to that - besides everyone joining the same player corporation - is to set standings on each other to 10, that is moving the little button all the way to the right, which will produce a little blue back ground plus sign.
If someone is set blue to you - they can take from your stuff with no problem.

Thr problem with that is that you have to take on trust that someone has you set blue before taking from their can. There's no way to tell what standing someone has you set at.
And if someone is docked or out of system the can in question will be yellow. The rule is if it's yellow, let it mellow, if it's white, it is all right.

If someone I was fleeted with started shooting at me because I picked up their can, I wouldn't fleet with that person anymore.

Edited by: Zardoz Ex on 01/06/2009 05:26:25 It would be a good way to give items a buddy without being docked in a station and creating a contract to pass on those items. Plus, sometimes you don't want to stop at a station every time you want to swap items you can just trade on the fly, no pun intended...
