Last night I gave almost 300 Ships away, A friend of mine quit the game and gave me all of his assets, darn guy had over 3000 different ships, why so many I don't know. BUT I'm here to give them back to ya'll(I don't need them). Over the next few weeks I'll plan days and locations of where I'm going to give various, frigates, cruisers, battle cruisers, mining barges and maybe a battleship or 2 ;).
To get a ship its simple, Go to the location where I go next and stay near the station I'm at (high sec systems only. Then hop out in your capsule to board a ship, it'll be a Free for all basis, take as many as you want as I'll be launching several ships from my Orca at a time. Cya'l at the next location I'll update this later when I set a date.

Witnessed Maruu in action in Arnon outside the Sisters Arc mission station, loads of ships from shuttles up to cruisers flying in all directions from the Orca.
Confusion in local as skeptics tried in vain to work out what the scam was, no scam just loads of free ships. great fun to watch the scramble.
As an aside check out the map and see the big red blob that is Arnon, over 500 ships destroyed every day and most from mission runners going up against the arc bosses. well over 350 in local at peak times and rarely less than 200, I bet this will be a new Dodixie or Jita in the future as traders catch on to the huge turnover here.

Maruu Navorra is obviously a really nice guy and giving all the ships away is really great of him, but i neednt have bothered turning up.
Would have liked a Drake before start of event, then was happy for anything but ended up with zilch, nada, nothing. High ping means you get nothing, as myself and a dozen or so others found out. Whilst the guys above were the ones who grabbed loads of ships (especially Julius who must have gotten arround 15 ships himself, half being BC).
All in all it could have been fun if all ships were dropped in one go - not possible or a fairer system of giving ships was possible (maybe a lotto if you turn up in a pod or something). Vut as it stands i wont bother returning.
Still Maruu Navorra it was a nice try.

Your right some people felt they got left out, however this being my first event I will try to improve ways on how people will get ships. For instance; Instruct people prior to event to remove all objects on overview aside from My orca.This improves your chances at getting a ship. I'l try to think of other ways to improve this, i don't want anyone feeling left out :) |

I got there at "stupid-o-clock" and it all finished at "oh my god-o-clock", at least in UK time.
Initially I had a hard time and managed to only get shuttles - and I think some of those weren't from Maruu lol - and then I found that by removing the pods, containers, and station guns from overview I had a better chance of clicking on something that wasn't another person.
I started to get better at it, but obviously no where near as good as some - and by the time Maruu had finished I had managed to get 3 shuttles, a Rifter, a Tristan and a Thorax.
Hopefully by the next event I will have trained some of the cruiser skills on other races. I'm gutted I couldn't get a Covetor (training for in 15 days) or a Retreiver (can fly now) or even a Brutix or a Myrm though, but a Thorax cruiser is great.
On making it fairer, I agree its annoying that some got so many of the good ships all the time. I found my chances were only good when Maruu dropped 6 or 7 ships at once, later in the event. Maybe thered be more of a fairer chance if he warped in from somewhere and dropped them off? Then its a race. Or do it in a belt, and fly around it dropping stuff off at random.
Either way, I really enjoyed myself and look forward to the next event.

I can't say I've had more fun in Eve at any other event, got some pics below if you want to see the action :)
I was only there for half the event, but got a fair shar of ships XD (All those hours playing FPSs payed off )
I personally found it easier to set the camera to Maruu's ship when it undocked, zoom out and then wait until the ships magically appeared above his. That way my mouse was always in the right place and I managed to snag 1 ship every run
Great guy, and you should have seen the excitement in local, there was about 200+ people all spamming what ship type they wanted next. Great fun
Unforunately I was too busy spamming right click board to get any pics of mass pod swarm once the event got going, but I can tell you that every time the Orca came out, like 100 pods swarmed over it like ants

I got a Caracal, 2 drakes (one for my friend), a retriever, a tristan, and a few other minor ships in previous runs where he dropped destroyers.
It was a pretty nice event. |

Sounded like a hella lot of fun, shame I missed it. Heard about it from a buddy of mine, but even my nearest clone was 15 jumps away.
One thing I'd caution (this coming from a person on the shadier side of EVE) it NOT to move this too far from a station. You start warping around and some body is going to get caught up in the idea of the "lulz" and bring in a disco Domi regardless of the sec hit....
Anyhow great job there Maruu, EVE needs more people like you to counter balance the people like me. Definitely a permanent pass on your cans (if you mine) and wrecks (if you mission)....

However, smart-bombing someone else's legitimately nice and beneficial "event" for the "Lulz" seems too asphat for my tastes.

 Got 2 coercers which was great for me as my skill limit was Omen class and I missed them.
It took a little while to work out out how best to approach the overview to get the best chance of boarding a ship. And alot of people were confused by not being able to see the dropped ship (lag excluded) and I suspect this was due to bad overview configuration. So below is a brief of how I approached this problem;
1. get to the event.
2. set the overview settings to 'see all'.
3. systemmatically go through items on the overveiw which are NOT ships and right click to remove them from the overview.
4. This includes the numerous capsules that are buzzing around.
5. All you should be left with are ships [ ] in the icon column.
6. Set the type columm to alpabetical list a-z.
7. Close all other game windows to reduce lag and game infomation requirements.
Now when Maruu gives notice of dropping a ship all you have to do is watch the list in the area of say 'o' if it's an Omen or 'b' if it's a Brutix.
Simples.
I have to say I was surprised how few people there were which of course was great for the rest of us. Even only being able to fly the smaller ships, it never got boring waiting for them and the banter and atmosphere was scoooby scoooby doo.
Though an odd thing did happen and I'm still confused about it. 'GD's Follower' presented a challenge and I ?won?, though when I got there, there was an explosion. I'm still none the wiser as to what actually happened but hey he did say a he would give me a ship for winning his game/dare/challenge. We'll see if he is good to his word. I'll update if he is. I have mailed him, but he seems not to be on since, might have something to do with picking up a sudden fall in security status at the event, I just don't know.
After the give-a-away there were some good antics and games, superbly presented by Julius, who's net connection seems to have negative lag time lol.
So, in all, if your not doing anything next event time, come along, it's fun. |

If its the same time as last time, which I think it is, then its midnight UK time, which isnt so bad, however last time I got to bed at somewhere around 4.30am as it goes on for a fair while - and you lost track of time a bit. On the plus side I got up at 7am to get to work.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say that a fun evening of frantic clicking was had by all.
Point of note for all newbies attending the next event...
When a guy in a Ferox 40km from the station says he wants a big mass of pods around him, then he's going to eject from his ship...well, what you have there is a guy looking to collect an awesome killmail.
Remember: Don't take ships from strangers, follow the Orca. Choose Maruu's Orca for that real free frigate flavour.

Massive turnout this time, seriously there was 500-600 people in the system almost all of which were outside the station in pods/shuttles.
Couple of harbies, a drake and a couple of cruisers, sold for about 120m for an hours 'work' (if lulz is work that is...) before I fell asleep

I only got a couple of Thoraxes before I gave up this time (contrary to what people were screaming in local)
I want to say I had fun, but in truth the lag was a little frustrating. Maruu is of course not at fault.
I hope next time will have some more forgiving conditions!

Yes many, many thanks Maruu, I got one of the last two myrmidons last saturday and am so happy with it. I just started the game and didn't have the money to buy the ship myself. So it's a big help. Thanks again for doing such a wonderful thing, just makes me love eve that much more.

Just saying thanks to Maruu. I was at the event on the 5th and went home with a small fleet it seems.
I picked up:
5 frigates (Kestrel, Merlin, Atron, Magnate and Executioner)
4 shuttles (2 Minmatar, 1 Gallente and 1 Amarr)
a lone Retriever
and 1 Xray M that was used to determine the first battleship winner. Maruu lets the BS winners pick their choice of tech 1 ships and I selected a Megathron.

Unfortunately, there were some griefers today, and they did manage to kill several people's pods. Finding stations with a large 0m radius around this will be an absolute must in the future, and I hope this will not happen again.
I strongly recommend people use shuttles for these events. They generally cost 10k a pop and winning a single frigate will cover their cost and give you more protection.
Now I just need to figure out how and why a shuttle dies to a whole 35 damage.

I think the multiple shuttles worked well. The event was definantly a success.
I left with the following:

Lets see. 1x Prophecy, 2x Covetor, 2x Rifter, 2x Thrasher, 2x Cormorant, 1x Tristan, 1x Merlin, 2x Punisher, 1x Atron, 1x Incursus, 1x Executioner, 1x Iteron III (lol?), 2x Shuttle.
Yeah, tonight was crazy and fun. I was amazed how fast people got in those ships and thought for a while maybe there were macro users, but obviously I was able to beat out a few, or just get lucky. the Iteron was a surprise and a good laugh to snag. XD I'm so glad I took the time to train up all my racial frigate/cruiser/indy skills to 3/4. Funnily enough the only expensive thing I got (The prophecy) is the only thing I can personally make good use of, so eh. Works out!
Thanks a load Maruu, it was a hoot. Hopefully next time we'll be able to avoid the smrt-bombers entirely.

All in all, rockin' evening. I was glad I was able to come home fast enough to log on, as soon as I came in the door, from work. Next week I'll be booking the day off just so I can come out to the next one. :3

Fantastic event. there were a considerable fewer number of people at the july 5th event then at the previous one. i ended up walking out with:
cruiser:
1x maller
destroyer:
2x coercer
frigs:
3x exocutioner
1x rifter
2x slasher
1x punisher
misc:
2x retreiver (ok...)
2x shuttles
while i came with the hopes of getting a battlecruiser, between the lag, and a glitch or two (clicking "board" and having nothing happen for 3 seconds. sometimes i'd get the ship, most often i wouldn't). there seemed to be a few people who for some reason, were able to get more bc's than most (faster internet maybe?) but it was a fun event. this may seem like a lot of ships, but note that i was there for almost 6 hours-time spent is stuff earned. maybe next time i'll walk out with a harbinger or prophecy :P
either way, i commend you Maruu!!
now if we could only get a ship with a larger corp hanger than an orca in high-sec space...

Hey Maruu thanks a bunch for these nice ships I got.
Lost my myrmidon the other day. So now I can continue with my missioning.
This time I really got the hang of it, I got:

I'm really happy with these, so are couple of my friends who I'll be giving some of them to.

I had a good time and made out very well. I was podded and I don't care, I would totally do it again. I've never had expensive implants because can't afford them!
If you're new to EVE and reading this, come to the next event! If you have super expensive implants, get a jump clone before you come (or at least don't whine about losing implants). Maruu makes the event as safe as possible, but this is EVE and there's always a gamble for anything great, especially free ships. Anyway, it is a great way to get some awesome ships! Thanks again!

I can't really say I had a fun time, what with being podded (losing a few mil in implants in the process), having to make my way back after 20 jumps, and not getting a single ship (not even a BS lottery shuttle).
...but that's not stopping me from trying again! I'm excited for the next event. |
