Recently finished a WARDEC and arguement with the WTs insued. Who won?
Should the determining factor be number of kills?
Should it be ISK destroyed?
And whose kill board is more correct?
These are questions that I cant answer with any certainty, but both sides feel they won. I personally call it a draw there were massive casualties on both sides with the final isk destroyed being only a 100M in our favor.
Just wondering how others determine the winner in their WARDECs?

Who intiated the war? For what reason and goals? Were those goals accomplished? If yes, they won, if no, they lost.

Hmmm.. Well normally the person who won the war owns the other person space or still owns their space.
Since this sounds more like an empire war? If this is an empire war and the other group made the war mutual then who ever retracts the war is the loser. Low sec and NPC 0.0 wars would then result in who controls the best and isk lost.
The one who did the most damage to the other group. This is always very difficult to prove but if one lost 4 Teir 3 BS and killed 4 HAC's in return who is the real winner?
I would personal say the BS group because well they have insurance on the ships vs T2 ships who's insurance is null.

Well, you could always just break out the tape measure and do an e-peen check.

Update:
The War has been continued an additional week. Apparently our CEO has slept with thier CEO's girlfriend and got her pregnant and wont call her or something along those lines because thier CEO is ****ed. lol
I guess it will come down to a final throw down after all.

Edited by: Kato Akorahil on 06/06/2009 11:06:43 The winner of a war is not determined by who ends it. Ending a War on the agressors side can be either a sign of compassion, or a stretigical advantage of keeping the enemy not toaly destroyed and beeing able to ransom, or set any demands the victorious sees suited and press them empty to the blood. Owever, a war on one side is lost if the participating side cannot hold up the necessary supply for war efforts, Lost too much money to be able to continue for long, If the enemy is way overpowering you without chance of successful resistance or if your corporation /alliance breaks up because of it and thus is no longer able to keep up fighting.
Should no clear vitory be achieved ( stalemate ) the war doesnt end, it ends when one side cannot continue at all.
Should the agressor be unable ot overcome enemy defenses and has to stop the attack he is most likely to be considered the loser as his strengh was insufficient to overcome enemy resistance.
i personaly consider any other way to determine who wins a war insufficient

ISK Damage IMO. Say you lose 50 rifters and they lose 20 battleships, it's pretty obvious who won there, k/d ratio aside. Yes they killed more, but ultimately you did the most damage. |

A brief description of Empire wars...
Upon entering into a "war" your corporation attempts to disrupt enemy activites by playing waiting games outside of stations.
After you sit at the station for 10 hours playing undocking games, you sit at the stargate waiting for them to come after you.
After they come after you, you retreat to your station and continue playing station games.
END WAR. |

No, that comment I made about the girlfriend was to emphasize how upset the opposing CEO was to losing his fleet to a much younger force, that just happened to have better FCs.
Although that thread is hiliarious..

War is won by achieving your objectives. If itĘs, Kill the Ceo and bring back his corpse, force the corp to dissolve, pay ransom, own space, ect. |

Further update:
Wow we are in our third week of war with these guys.
Not much happened last week just seemed we couldnt get our fleet together for RL reasons. We did manage to pop a couple of them off but the came back towards the end of the week and caught one of our noobs mining and another hauling during wartime lol (school of hard knocks).
Maybe this week we can get our corp together and have an all out final showdown. |
