I'm so mixed up...on one hand, yaaay! Guybrush is back! Also it's amazing that Lucasarts actually make something that ISN'T Star Wars. But on the other hand, a remake of a classic...I think what made it classic was the style, the comedy and that our imaginations had to do a lot of the work. Now they'll have Americans doing voiceovers (no offense guys, I love you but you sux0r at voiceovers...look what you did to Prince of Persia. Pirates and Persians both should not sound american!) and I want to ask...are Lucasarts simply out of new ideas and are just cashing in on the olde ones?
Why not invest the time in a sequel? I'd rather a new Monkey Island adventure (with murray the demonic skull please) than a remake, I've replayed the first two on ScummVM before and that's enough for me! This game was developed by an ex-lucasarts guy or two along the same lines as the old point n' click adventures. Would rather that, maybe a sequel to Grim Fandango, etc than remakes.

Hmm they're going to have a hard time making it as good as the original. And no matter how brilliant they make it, people will always moan that they prefer the original.

@KingsGambit: I'd go read the second link. SoMI is getting a remake AND there's a new game coming out from TellTale called Tales of Monkey Island (in an episodic format, which works here as the MI games were split into acts anyway!)

THat second link does explain a lot, it was blocked by our filters at work. I can unblock any sites I want but it unblocks for students too so I try to avoid it where possible.  If that $35 price tag is for all 5, i might buy them all tho I think I'll skip a remake of the original. ScummVM is good enough for me :-)

No, you're right. LucasArts did a bunch of those graphical adventures back in the day.
