Edited by: highonpop on 02/06/2009 20:04:52 Edited by: highonpop on 02/06/2009 20:02:42 wasnt sure what section to put this in.
yesterday I took to exploration for the first time. Got a Maulus frig with a prob launcher and core scan probes...thats it really.
Anyway, i tracked down like 10 plexes yesterday, 2 of which were wormholes. One went to another highsec system in a different region...one went to an uncharted 0.0
My question is...
Say I find a wormhole, It goes from system A to system B. It closes, I am still in system B...
Will that WH respawn in a different place in system B to take me back to A? Or would I have to track down a new WH in system B to get back to charted space, then jump back to system A?
I am NOT currently stuck, I am perfectly safe back in my home system...but if this were to happen, would i just be screwed?
edit:
Also, what ship would better suit my needs for exploration. Preferably Gallente. I can fly up to brutix. Also, what are some good support skills and support modules for an exploration ship? I have a survey scanner on my current ship, because my main focus is to find grav sites to mine, and i have the scanner to see whats there when i find a grav site. _____________________ **warp drive acti...wait, where are we going again?** Eve Online Guide ;] |

Chances to find a WH to a specific system (no matter at what end you are right now) are in the range of 2500:1 . If you get stuck you have the option to use the clone express.

Edited by: Kessiaan on 02/06/2009 20:33:24 If you get lost in wormhole space and don't have a probe launcher you're pretty hosed. You can beg in local for a way out, but don't expect this to be free, you might get podded anyway by opportunistic pirates, and if you're alone you have to wait for someone to show up. As was said above, you can take the pod express anytime you want (eject -> self destruct pod)
If you do have a probe launcher you're fine. Just keep probing wormholes until you find one that leads to a decent place, which, if you're in a frig, would be pretty much any high or lowsec. Once you're back in normal space take the long way home.
The one time this happened to me it was because an Orca followed me through a highsec wormhole and collapsed it behind me. I probed out an exit wormhole which lead to another wormhole system, probed out a wormhole in THAT system which lead to lowsec Molden Heath, and I went back home about 40 jumps from there - only a few hours, altogether.

thanks for the info.
i wouldnt even think of going through a WH without a probe launcher attached to my ship, or in a fleet with someone who has a probe launcher. _____________________ **warp drive acti...wait, where are we going again?** Eve Online Guide ;] |

Evry wormhole leads 2 ways. In the wormhole info you can see how long it will last (it will collapse after a certain ammount of mass has passed trough or after a certain ammount of time) THe wormhole systems al have an effect on your ship depending on what is in there. AKA (red supernova = + 10% armor reststances ect ect) Also evrywormhole system alway has at leeast one exit. (so if one collapses another will alway pop up somewhere else.
Sleepers range from cheap frigs to battleships. For the larger ships you really need a fleet setup for remote repping, the low lvl ones can be done in for example a brutix. Don't use drones tough since they wil get killed fast. Also note that sleepers switch target until they find one that will break. if noone breaks they switch bitween focus fire and hughe alpha strikes. (so make sure you have a good buffer cause its gonna take a while for your mates to remote rep you.)
ALso watch out for pirates and alway bookmark the WH you came into.

This. Times, like, a billion. You think it's something silly until you forget to bookmark your WH and warp away, only to realize mid-warp that now you need to scan it down again. That's if you're smart and have probes and a launcher. If you don't... emoticons will describe it best I think. This emotional chain is usually followed by either a thread begging for help on the forums, or self-destructing your ship and pod. You don't want either to happen.

If you forget to bookmark it, it will still show up in your solar map. Just put down 4 probes at min size on topp of it to pinpoint and warp to it again. This will also stop it from showing up on the scans as unkown. Damn i hate when I've been scanning for the very wormhole im at

if you were scanning down the same wormhole you were sitting next to that is user error, cause if you were sitting next to it, and looking at the system map, it says "you are here". So you would have appeared to be scanning yourself... _____________________ **warp drive acti...wait, where are we going again?** Eve Online Guide ;] |

Every wormhole will connect to another wormhole and that connection is static (not dynamic). Once the wormhole closes, both wormholes will vanish.
When you come upon a wormhole, there is a lot of info you can gather before making a decision on the wormhole. Select show info on the wormhole is essential. It gives you an idea where it will lead, how much time it has until it closes, and whether or not ships have severely disrupted the stability. You can discern its lifetime and where it leads visually too. If the wormhole is blue, it leads to a class 1 or 2 system (in my experience). If it is brownish, it's a class 3. If the animation of the wormhole is distorting like crazy, it's about to collapse at any moment. If you use show info and the wormhole states it is reaching the end of its lifetime, I highly recommend to ignore the wormhole and move on. If it says beginning its decay, you are good to go.
Another tip, use Wormhole Thingy (just enter taht into the search field). It gives more details on the type of wormhole you happen to cross and even the wormhole system you are in, if you enter one.

Because of the way different classes of wormholes are mostly connected to the same areas of real space, the odds are actually much better than that. That is why we see people actually rescued from wh space fairly easily. |

What are sleepers and what is remote repping? I'm new at this... |
