Ummm Rod. The ore thieves most often steal from either guys in apocs that mine in 1.0 or from total noobs that dont know better. That is why these threads are so many(agree with you tho that these threads are coming maybe a lil to many )

It's funny you say that. I've bought several from him myself too without a hitch. I guess he's probably a victim of some sort of smear campaign. He would have a good case to petition for harrasment.

To my understand deliberate cargo jettisoning isn't and won't be labelled criminal. If you jettison your cargo and someone happens by to take it... then it is theirs. Criminal flagging if I read right is designed to help in other areas.

I found a good way to punish ore thieves once you get a bit of money, get yourself a caracal, get some missiles, get to lots of range and fire away, it is funny as hell with noob ore theives who won't expect it at all....could get a tad more expensive then simply losing a bit 'o' veld in the long run though **coughs gently** ==============================================
Have you ever wondered who was responsible for the "do not attempt to stop chain with hand or genitals" type notes on things? well it was me, or at le |

Are you saying it is easier to haul whats left in the unsecure, jettisoned, tossed over your shoulder, can than to use a fancy, SECURE, brought into the game cause so many complained container?

So he loses a fully insured hauler with basic modules, while you lose more expensive modules and take a security hit? What would be funnier is if you fail to destroy him before CONCORD blasts you and he laughs while hauling away your modules.

Edited by: Devineflid on 15/09/2004 15:52:44 lol, i did point out it would be expensive, but if you can go hunt npc bs's in 0.0 then the security hit isn't really a bother, and above all that it is funny as hell, so what is the point in not doing it?(other than your affore mentioned perfectly legitimate points abviously ) ==============================================

Use secure cans.
This happened to me a couple days ago in 0.7 space.
A group of battleships strip-mining a belt. Unsecure containers. Me with my raid-runner Bestower tweaked to 350 m/s max speed. I scan, I see, I jump in. 10 km to the container. By the time I'm noticed I'm close enough to hit afterburners and snag a full load.
"Hey F$#& put it back!"
"um, ok.", I proceed to head out of the belt and prepare for warp.
Targeted. That's interesting. And humorous. On my scanner, I see many little pings headed my way. These battleships are rigged with miners, I know... And they use drones for rat defense.
Zzzzap! Ooh, I'm tickled by a couple hits from medium scout drones. I suppress the laughter as I lock in my warp destination and hit afterburner to more quickly reach minimum warp speed. We all know what's coming next...
5 more seconds and I'm 1+ au away.
Local chat: "OMFG why did they kill my ship!" "Cuz you attacked in a concord system jackass!" "I'll get your stuff, go get your other ship"
With my tricked out freighter I'm in the dock and emptied in notime. That's alot of scordite! I punch in the command to warp to the belt to snag the rest of the ore.... and whatever wreckage he left behind.
Warp in... I'm off by 20km due to my new approach angle. THere's another armageddon going as fast as he can to snag the wreckage first. If this were a reg indie, he's make it easy... but this ain't no stock freighter. I easily overtake the battleship, snag the wares, snag the ore, and punch it out.
3x Nanofiber hull replacement and 2x 10M afterburners: 120,000 two payloads of scordite sold to the highest bidder: 850,000 Stealing ore under the nose of 3 battleships, getting one to commit suicide and taking his wares: Priceless.
