I'm setting up a w-space gang that originally intended to live in a class two wormhole. The gang makeup consisted of two remote rep harbingers, which we found was more than sufficient for a class two.
Having had some relative success with two harbingers we've decided on setting up another op, and now have the addition of a fairly competent myrmidon pilot. Also, we have put off the next trip until I'm able to fly an absolution. So our current setup is looking to be: One harbinger (meta 4 beams) , One absolution (t2 pulse and/or meta 4 beams), and one Myrmidon (t2 rails / t2 drones).
Now this is a major improvement on our other setup for a couple reasons, with the absolution I'll be able to perform either twice the dps with the same tank, or the same dps with a much stronger tank. With the addition of the Myrmidon (and the pilot with some rather strong defensive skills) we get another strong BC as well as a second remote rep.
Now I'm fairly certain that with this group we would be able to tackle class 3 wormholes instead of class 2's. But my real question is, do you think we could get away with class 4's and would it be worth the extra risk?

Edited by: ArcDragon on 04/06/2009 19:37:32 Good question.
You are right about being able to handle class 3 Wspaces. If you all three went you should be able to do most, if not all of the encounters. It is also possible that you will occasionally have some close calls.
As for the class 4 I would not think so. For one, if any of you are not on or are having trouble with getting your absolutely best fit then you will fail and all of you will be wiped (class 4 warp scrams a lot). Another thing to consider about class 4 is that you would benifit greatly by having a POS, even if only a small one with only a ship maint. array and/or a corp hangar. Class 4s tend to attract large groups of people or very skilled PvP'rs lookin for a fight.
It has been my opinion that when it comes to WH you are better off not being on the cutting edge of what you can handle. I say that because out there, there is no refit, Sleepers pod you and people only show up in local if they talk.
Go class 3 and kick butt. When you double your gang size go class 4 and put up a small temporary POS. A good industrial alt can carry a POS in a box, a small POS, corp hangar and ship maint. bay with 3 days of fuel.
I started out in a class 5 by myself and now we have 5 pilots and a bustling large POS that only an idiot would attack. Work your way up by taking the nice sure step of going to class 3 with three pilots.
Good luck mate. If it has a SAVE button...I'm not interested. |

Nope you'd die horribly. The last wave sometimes is 4 sleepless safeguards, those things will kill u all in no time.
The spawns that do not have these four at the end maybe you could do them with those 3 ships as tbh they aint that much harder than the hardest class 3 spawn.
4 nighthawks can complete all class 4 spawns, id like to say easily but sometimes it got hairy.
The isk is alot more on the class 4 as on avg u kill 7 bs per total spawn against avg of 3 in class 3. The hacking etc cans range from 10 - 12 from 7+ in the class 3's
