I am having no problems selling the few harpys a friend is able to build for me. The price, well its high, very high but I suspect it will come down as more BPO's are released.
For your information it takes just under 9hrs to make a Harpy and 16hrs to make a single run BPC. I can't see me supplying many BPC's.

Why do people keep saying "thye have to charge outragous prices to recoup the cost of the BP"
Any isk you make from selling ships is pure profit, you dont need to recoup the cost of the BPO because you can just sell it to get your money back!!!

So you say that if he sell the frigs at a low price he earns PURE profit? to a certain degree u are correct, but i don't think you know it :p The price that exceed the cost of production is the pure profit in such a monopoly market. but to say that the entire price of the frigate is profit is WRONG, the ship as i have understood cost about 12 million isk to produce, if he sell at 40 mill he makes 28 mill profit, pure profit, that will go down when there are more BPOs around.
The BPO in this case is a investment, and if u are not totally retarded u would like something back from that investment, and that justifies the high price of this Ship, in my opinion atleast. I think alot of theese forum posters here should take a break from Eve and actually check how the real community/world works before they start to come with expressions such as 'fair price'. WTF is a fair price? whom's job is it to decide? If there is a state of monopoly the seller can charge as high price as he wants, if people want to buy at high price it's their problem not the producers. i think a lot of u whiners should start doing agent missions and get a hold of the BPO urself so u can force the prices down, or would you do that when u see how much profit there is from such items? NO!

After reading through this thread I think that the price shoule be raised just on general principals. The arguments for lowering prices are silly. Being the owner of several Tech II BPO myself I can attest to the fact that components alone are not the entire cost involved that get passed on to the buyers. This BPO looks as if it could generate 2.5 ships per day. So at the recommended price of cost + low% the profit would be maybe 15 - 20 mil a day ? The skills involved to manufacture an item like this are a little higher then the average knucklehead posseses.
So we have a limited issue BPO for an elite Tech II ship, that you can only produce a few of a day, for a comunity of thousands, and you have to spend additional time training skills to produce it, and they should give it away ? I would get every ISK possible from it especially in the beginning when demand is so much higher then supply.
The arguments about it being to expensive and your greedy because eventually you will make the money anyway, can also be expressed by the seller as: You dont need to buy this right now because you can not afford to compete with those that want it more, just wait a month or so and prices will come down because of competition and then you can buy one.
