This is a real easy change.
In space, you can right click on your ship and 'show info' & it shows what modules are fitted. When you are in a station, however, you need to get into the ship to see what its fitting is - with all the hassle of the 30 second session timer.
Just change the system so you can right click on ships in your station hangar and see what modules are fitted from the 'show info' option...

When you make your ship: Fittings -> Save
When you want to look at it: Fittings -> Browse
You can do this from anywhere - you don't even need to be in the same station.

It's a workaround, valid one granted, but still a workaround. |

True, but if you have 5 Harpy fittings saved and only 1 Harpy in station, you may well not know what setup you had on it last.... |

Valid point. There are workarounds (such as save a copy called "Current Fitting"), but I see no reason why one shouldn't be able to see what your ships have fit to them, especially if you are in the same station. |

Also true, but then why not rename ship to reflect its current fittings? |

You could, but that would mean constantly renaming ships every time you tweak a setup. This suggestion removes the need for that and is really simple.
CCP just need to apply an existing feature to a slightly different area - i.e. ships in station hangar as well as ships in space. |

I like this idea.
It would be particularly useful for figuring out which ship you left your cloaking device on last week.

I agree. There should be a right click -> show fittings available to ships in your hangar. Though I wouldn't allow this through your assets tab for ships not in your current station / POS.
