Have I just been really unlucky here? Tonight a few of my friends and I hit a wormhole combat encounter (from high-sec space) and destroyed about 5 sleepless ships, 15 awakened and bunch more emergents.
However the salvage from these ships, whilst sounding impressive, was worth around 15k each (with the odd 150k throw in). Considering how tough these guys were to kill (especially the sleepless defenders) I was really disappointed by the salvage rewards. Sure, the loot was worth a few million but why is the salvage so terrible?
The worst part is that drifting toward the wrecks takes forever in a battleship, then the salvaging takes ages, only to receive such paltry items. Am I missing something here? |

Edited by: Mordi Erman on 06/06/2009 01:07:26 Certain parts are worth 6-8 mill and arent uncommon. I found 20 in 3 combat sites. You are either VERY unlucky or not seeing something.
This was solo class 1 aswell.

Sleeper wrecks seem to be on the order of a T2 wreck in terms of difficulty to salvage. Nasty buggers, they are. But the salvage is worth it... either one of your corpmates is being less than honest as to what salvage he got or you fail at pricechecking.

from what you said you encountered, it was a class 1 site. you should try class 2 or 3. but beware, you are all going to need BS's to do it in a timely manner. |

The skill requirements to build T3 are so high that few players are willing to spend the time to reach them. The majority just sell off any sleeper salvage they get rather than hoard them for potential future use as happens with other salvage.
The result of this is a free-fall in sleeper salvage prices, some going as low as 100isk! Even the higher priced salvage is dropping fast.
The fix to this of course is to lower the T3 build requirements. If this isn't done then expect the market for salvage to completely collapse. Good for the few T3 builders of course.
Soon the only benefits of sleeper kills will be NPC purchased items. Of course this could have been planned all along...

It depends on luckiness, and you were not so lucky. I generally find a few input matrices (that's the gold in all the salvage I've seen), which makes for a decent profit. The ribbons are worth around 6000K a piece as well. Everything else? Not so much. I've noticed when I looked at the market graph for these items, they used to be priced a lot higher at one point. Then there was a very steep drop as they all lost a lot of their value. |

Neurovision Matrix thingies, they are worth 6 - 8 mil each. They seem to drop from most sleepers from time to time but the BS's can drop anywhere from 1 - 5 of them, that means some of the BS's can make you over 65 mil including loot each :D

I'm the only one doing the salvaging, so I know that no-one is holding out on me. Maybe I have just been very unlucky, but I haven't found any of the Input Matrices on the Sleepless guys yet (only killed 5 last night). Perhaps it was only a Class 1 wormhole and the salvage is therefore rubbish.
I would've hoped for more from the other salvage items that I did get though. I was quite excited when I first saw them, thinking they'd be worth loads, but was shocked at how cheap they were.
Apart from the datacores we find at hacking sites, and the tags, the rewards for killing all those sleepers was next to nothing. Even the datacores seem to be tanking in price lately too. What sold for 15 million ISK in Jita two weeks ago is now being listed at 9 million ISK.
Something feels broken to me.

Offensive Subsystems are still the jackpot Item, still going for over 20 mil I believe. |

CCP recently did a silent nerf to class 1 wormholes and removed all the good salvage.

This. I wonder how CCP wants to make T3 ships more popular than T2 ships (as advertised in one of the blogs) if actually manufacturing those ships is so skill-intensive & salvage items so poor.
Time will tell...

Lower prices of salvage will lead to lower prices of T3 ships, ie more popular to run T3 ships.
This shortsighted 'I'm not making as much on salvage ... therefore I'm going to want T3 less' - complete garbage.
If T3 ship prices dont drop to match the dropped salvage prices, more people will get into from the 'extra profit' which will in turn lower T3 ship prices. Basic economics. The high prices of T3 ships has been the shortage in T3 ship supply, which has been in part a shortage in materials like the salvage. Now more salvage so the prices of salvage dropping and T3 ships prices will follow making it more affordable for anyone to get a T3 ship.
Class 1 wormholes have never been where the isk is. The tougher the wormhole class the more isk to make. Its just class 1's the easiest - bit like lvl 1 mission running. You dont make heaps of isk from salvaging level 1 missions. So move up a level to Class 2's and 3's which able to be solo'd if your careful. |

we usually do 10-30 class-1 combat sites per day, and as of about 3 days ago, the salvage has dropped from 'omg awesome moniez' to 'wtf this is ****e' so, yea, i'll agree with the above statement

Ok I'm going to have to eat my earlier post here. Yesterday I found frak-all for sites so I didn't salvage anything, but I went into a Class 1 today, ran two mags and two anomalies... and came out with five of the 6-8m bits of salvage. For killing something like 40 cruisers and an equal amount of frigs.
Yeah, I'm going to agree with the OP now and say that something is wrong here. The salvage was a looooot better earlier this week.

Quite frankly, I don't know what anyone is talking about. I have been making Billions since Apocrypha. True the market has dipped a bit, but that is to be expected. I solo sites and expect to make at least 100 mill off each one.

My Salvage skill is 5, so it's not that causing my low yield. I guess what others have said here must be the truth. Class 1 wormholes must've been adjusted to give bad salvage.
I didn't look at the class I was running in when I posted the original comment, but I will definitely take a look next time. |

They didn't nerf anything. In fact, I pulled out 16 input matrices today from a class 1 from two camps.

Nope I believe there has been a nerf in the drop rates of the better salvage in class one; two and three wormholes. I was getting tons of the 5-6 mil piece of salvage the other day and now after spending 2 hours in a class 3 with a gang today we only managed to get one.
Ninja nerf ftw

Mission loot/salvage has also seen some 'unannounced changes' recently. It's not so much the changes, but this underhanded, behind our backs, not telling anyone way it happens :( Leaves you unable to make a informed decision on how to adapt to it when there is no knowing where it is going. |

It does seem to me that I've been getting less ISK per mission lately. |

I've noticed the samething with lv 4 missions, i salvaged sansha blockade and got 9 armor plates and 2 melted caps, next time i got 15 armor plates and no melted caps. I used to get 20+ of each per blockade mission. This is using t2 salvagers. Now i don't even salvaged missions. I think something is messed up maybe introducing t2 salvagers knock something out of whack. Or maybe its just a stealth nerf. |
