lol thank you, i seriously do not think the market should flux 100 % over just a few months, things need to be established because this is just getting out of hand :/ if you let it keep going they will just go over a bill, and rat / LP / mission bounties sure as hell wont go up so all you will have is yarring, mining, and misc to make money on.
since we have constants for making money in the economy (the above listed) that limits the amount of money you can make over time doing those, due to inflation. if the value of ore goes up, then miners may be able to aford GTCs but it may become less profitable for other professions (as a generic example, this is not EXACTLY the case)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ sorry sir but i do not believe i quite get what you are getting at. but you DO bring up a good point, ANOTHER constant in the EVE economy is the real GTC price DOES NOT CHANGE. it's always 35 US$ (don't know about other countries) and has been that for how long? ya it's a little more costly then the standard 2 month payment for EVE, and actually i think that another thing that should change. you should be able to buy the GTC online and get it for 30 US$ instead of 35 US$. the original reason for a GTC costing 35 US$ was they justified the markup by saying "it's a physical item that needs space on store shelf blah blah blah" but when you have online distribution i say you should lower it to the subscription amount (15 US$ per month) as a way to even out the market.
i agree, 500~600 mill was tolerable, but 700 mill is just stupid.
ok simple mechanics
(ftr i neither buy nor sell cards)
But the card selling market is exactly the same as any market in real life and eve, People charge what people pay, If you want to bring down to the market to a respectable amount (my opinion in region of 500mill seems a good price) then you have to get everyone and anyone to not buy any GTC's unless they are at this price, or the other one is you buy 100 gtc's and sell them at this price, thus forcing everyone else to bring their price down.
I understand that current prices suck, but lets be honest did buyers moan when they were too low. So sadly fluctuation of this kind is going to come and go,
A point to consider why the prices have gone up, it could be either of
A School holidays, more kiddies want to play thus meaning higher demand pushes prices up, but also kids happy to pay anything just so they dont have to nag mom 'n' dad. or B People are going on holiday over the summer and because of this there are less sellers, thus pushing prices due to lack of demand :)
So could be either, really just make your own mind/opinion up But from a personal point of view, would be interseted to see CCP figures on either Cards Sold online/shops for each quarter or the amount of cards bought in game for same period, it wouldn't surprise me if there is a summer price increase for one of the reasons given above.
My tuppence worth,
Cheers
CCP allowing trade of plexes for OOG tickets has probably made prices go up..
Many of the spoilt little brats who use parents money to buy this stuff has gone to band camp for the summer...
CCP put the prices up not so long ago (in the overall scheme of things)..
Ingame price manipulation is now possible, buying and reselling means that it's possible to artifically inflate the price (but this may or may not be happening, the "markets" guy who seems to miss so many tricks probably wont ever look at plexes)..
Yea, it would be nice if they would come down, but if they dont then I guess we adjust play styles. ----------- Never Forget |
oh ya... i forgot about the convention trade, ya that is probably giving quite the shaft to the price.
i don't know about the validity of the "young kids going to band camp" stuff though, it seems a little too biased and i think we need broader statistics (CCP would have to provide) to truly say what the cause is.
