Hi all,
I've got EVE installed on my desktop, and it runs great. I tried installing it on my laptop and it won't run. Pops up with an error box, something like: "outdated graphics card, requires ShaderModel 2 or higher." I even tried running EVE in safe mode, but no go.
I looked up my vid card, and couldn't get definitive specs, so it was worth a shot! Here are my system specs, any hope for a workaround? If not, anyone know where to get an inexpensive new MacBook Pro?!
Toshiba Satellite A75-s206 Vid card: ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 Processor: Mobile Intel Pentium 4, 2.80 GHz RAM: ~1500 MB
Thanks in advance! |

Kind of found my answer...

Looks like I have "shared video memory" versus a dedicated video card. Oh well, I'm thinking I'll just have to figure out some way to finance a nice new shiny MacBook Pro myself... |

For it beign such an old Radeon mobility series you will have to get another laptop. The 9xxx series cards are the minimum you need to run EVE since they were the first Radeon series to feature Shader Model 2. The mobility series are stripped down version with a lot of functionality removed to simply work in a laptop series. ------------------------------------- Read my bio ingame for tips on how to live and not be called nasty names by me. |

Edited by: SidViciousSG on 09/06/2009 22:29:17 Radeon 90xx and 92xx are based on the older RV250 & RV 280 GPUs which lack SM2 support.
You can find detailed GPU specs here : http://users.erols.com/chare/video.htm
Here is an useful site to see how mobile GPUs measure up: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
