I dont usually get into stuff like this, but I agree with the OP. Either let him have his symbol or ban all from having them. OP:You cant post gm responses on the forums, you'll get locked and/or in trouble. Also, in before the lock, and/or also The Lock. |

Edited by: Qarthy on 10/06/2009 00:58:06 Edited by: Qarthy on 10/06/2009 00:56:32 The GM hit the nail on the head.
Due to the use by the Na zis in WWII and the na zification of the symbol during that period, it has lost the religious meaning that it once had.
It's not viewed by the vast majority of the world as a religious symbol at all, but a symbol of fascism and hate. If you showed 100 people that symbol on the street I would wager that 99 out 0f those 100 would say it's the symbol of the Na zi party and would link it to the Holocaust.
Sorry but thats what the world sees. Hate and darkness, not a religious symbol.

Well precarious situation. Look at it form their point of view. If they allow it; someone could construe it as them pandering to white supremacy. While the swastika was an original design from the east unfortunately the GM is right.... and no longer seen that way.
The Asian servers are separate btw... Further more seeing as how you know it can be seen as such...why not just choose another Buddhist symbol, and not make a big deal of it. Swastikas are also illegal in some countries, even games are not allowed to display them. This also seems like a case of misery likes company if you don't like your symbol being banned why would you screw others over? Assuming theirs of course aren't overtly offensive.
BTW you just opened up the religious debate on the internet...thanks a lot.

No I left it on my bio and I didn't advertise it. Someone reported me and I said it was unfair of them to do it. And I got a response from a GM saying that I'm the one whos wrong when this icon has been an icon of peace for THOUSANDS of years. |

Unfortunately, it's been a symbol of something quite different in the last 75 years. It was a worldwide thing, surprised you hadn't heard of it tbh. |

It only takes one idiot to **** things up. 11,000,000 people died under that symbol. maybe 100 years from now that symbol will be fine, but its still to hot in our memories. Get over it, choose another symbol. u lose |

YES I've heard about it, but I would think that people should know about how the symbol came to be first - not just focused on one viewpoint.
This is still a religious symbol to many, and if its not allowed, all religious icons should be not allowed too.

And how many people died during the Christian crusades? The torture under the cross? The people sacrificed under the communist hammer and sickles?
Are those tools banned from stores now? Should we omit the letter "X" from the alphabet because it vaguely resembles a torturing device?

A dead mean crucified on the cross isn't recognizable 'in such ways' as the one I'm talking about?

Welcome to Christianity, a much more accepted group, this is how the world is played and you should have been taught that from birth.

You're not going to win this one. Most people don't even know that it originated from other origins either.
Put your self in someone else shoes... Any Jewish person or person that had a family member in the holocaust isn't going to like it no matter what. Also what if someone used a symbol that was the pinnacle of offensive in your culture, however they didn't mean it as such; you're still going to be upset. _________________________ HATERS!!!!
