Bombs are allowed, but cloaking devices are not.... Which means bombs will never be used because the only ships that can use them have their primary defence mechanism banned. (then again, maybe there's a viable tanked bomber fit that can be remote repped for long enough to be viable, or even long enough to be 'bait') |

Very interesting...
T3 cruiser: 15 pts Heavy assault: 15 pts
I guess y'all agree that t3 ships are garbage and no more effective than t2 ;p |

Points system makes sense to me, destroyers wont escape dying painfully and horribly if the enemy team has even a single long range dps battleship on the field.
At least haulers can bring a cargohold full of cap charges and jettison them to their team mates.
Next alliance tournament will be crazy with T3 ships though.

Hmm i think with that price of 2 bil non refundable, the number of alliances or corporations who would create an alliance to participate will decrease so we will basicaly see again all those alliances as 6 tournamens before.
Its like broadcast re-runs of Star Trek with reimagined graphic. All know who will be there only way how people die will change.
Another issue i have is the live stream. Will it be again like BBC during ww2 only trough voice and after several days on youtube? Live stream would be a damn better improvement. Couse the youtube videos are fail and not in high res.

I've said this before in the tournie discussion forum, but the 2bil entry fee isn't a barrier to entry for any serious team. You will spend far more in ships, mods, implants, ammo etc. You'll need at least two full teams (plus reserves) for the qualifiers (unless you plan to reuse the same setups assuming anything survives) and that is before you get to the finals weekend where you'll need a further few setups ready to go (The Sunday schedule doesn't leave much time for shopping and Jita on a Sunday isn't the best of places to be 30 mins before a match ;))
Point is that if people are fielding Faction cruisers, marauders, command ships etc you are looking at 2-4+ bil per match in ships. T3 prices are falling but they will still add even more to the cost per match than faction cruisers. At this level the 2 bil is irrelevant. There are lots of people with money to burn who could personally fund a team if they so wanted.
As to the other point, for AT6 there were many more alliances applying than got in. With the random draw for AT7 I am sure there will be new faces. Remember that only 16 teams from last time have a guaranteed slot so there is a chance that the other 48 teams will be new (ok, probability is that some of the other teams from AT6 will end up in AT7 but who can say). |

You got point but usualy someone who has more then 2 bil and can afford to loose it either buys and sell plexes or earns money in the game besides pvp.
I do only pvp and from time to time when i realy hit my wallet i run a mission to replace some stuff. Most of the people who participate in tourney would never bring their stuff to pvp couse most likely they would risk carrier hot drop or getting ganked by enemies.
Tourney is just a show to amuse people so if you realy have money to replace t3 or no doesnt matter it should be done for fun. Personaly if there would be 1 bil refundable i would try participate with t2 stuff and implants just for the laugh. Not to expect some serious business.
Newbie players will look at tourney and will get false impressions from game that only rich mission runners or 0.0 people can do pvp when the truth is a newbie who places his skills right at start can easily kill a cruiser with his frig.
Tourney should be random as it is but the random variety should be much bigger. Thats my two cents and yes i agree with you points just wanted to explain myself.

I agree to a point. Many of the setups for the tournie wouldn't get used in "real" PvP on TQ because they are setup for a specific purpose. In "real" PvP you have to deal with more variables - superior numbers, capital hotdrops, login traps, multiple logistics etc. That isn't to say people don't use expensive ships - they fly what they can afford to lose.

Even a T2 team is pretty expensive, multiple billions for your first two matches. It is lots of fun, but also hard work coming up with setups, tactics, practice etc.
You are quite right that it isn't real PvP and is purely for entertainment. However it is also a chance to make a name for your alliance (good or bad!) which is priceless.

I agree 100% that a well flown frigate can take down far bigger prey solo.
The tournie does encourage people to try eve but it also encourages people who might not PvP to try it out. This is a win for everybody - more players means eve keeps growing, more PvPers means more targets and leads to more ship replacements to keep the industrial and trading people going.

Quote: 64 Alliances will be allowed entry to Alliance Tournament VI. The tournament is broken into two stages û Qualifying and Finals.
A slightly modified Swiss System tournament system will be used for qualifying rounds, with a single elimination tournament occurring on the final weekend.
"Alliance Tournament VI" ----> "Alliance Tournament VII"
Figure it out |

There will be a very interesting dynamic caused by the associated skill losses, lose a ship and you can't be at all V for the next match.
Will that mean pilots only making it into 1 match or saving them for the later rounds?

So... will the new faction drones be allowed?
They aren't listed as illegal, but they aren't out yet. But they will be for the tournament!
