It means you have achieved something remarkable in EVE. I propably won't ever win EVE, since nothing I do aims at doing anything really special. I just try to do what I feel like at the time and enjoy the ride.

For me personally its every time I log off at the end of a session with the feeling that i enjoyed myself. You cant really win EvE, thats one of the best things about it.

Currently it means finally being able to fly a Hulk. After that, it means finally being able to fly an Orca. After that, it means...
Ah, you get my point. I feel like I have won EVE every time I accomplish the ability to fly/use something new. |

Winning EVE. To many people, it's some kind of an achievement or feeling that they will get only once, and that feeling is only preserved through memories. I have not yet won EVE - many others may have: it might be the first time they pilot a Battleship and they're feeling "ooh... I have the power".
To me, it's a matter of investing your ISK into an expensive ship, and continually invest into it with faction modules, faction ammo, and rigs... and then take it out there and wreck the world as much as you can - but with caution, for these kind of ships are always broadcast into intel channels and people will blob me.
Still, it would be very nice to have a 'trophy' - and that is my achievement. |

I've never won eve, but I try to do cool things as much as possible. I think the closest I've ever come has been the latest exploits started by the Iteron of Doom (tm). Searching for some of my latests posts involving 'So There I was..In Jita' will point you in the right direction.
If I actually get everything I want out of this last bit of adventure, I may actually win EvE. At least until I log in the next day and say "what's next?" At which point I'll probably fade back into the obscurity of the masses.
As it is, things are probably petering out and will end with a whimper rather than a bang..but it was a fun ride while it lasted. Which is the point now, isn't it?
(Hey, maybe I win EvE every day.) --

I killed a cat once, it was dying on the side of the road, so I took the round shovel and smacked it on its head. Then got back to get gloves because I forgot to put them on before smacking the cat. So when I came back, the cat was still alive, but it couldnt move his boby, only his head. It was yelling and stuff. So I think; ''This time, I wont miss you.'' I smacked it with the shovel until his head was completly flat on the ground.
Every time you post, you remind me of this moment, thanks cat.

I began playing Eve at the invitation of a friend in January 2006. We spent 2006 recruiting and building a 40 man Corporation that eventually had 2 POS in zero... then being politely invited to remove ourselves to a nearby "pet" space OR ELSE. So I left zero and went back to empire in 2007 and spent that year learning the ins and outs of industrial logistics, only to be disappointed when I realized how massively the logistics deck is stacked against the new players.
Most of 2007 was spent attempting to amass sufficient political allies and resources to compete in zero. When that had been accomplished, suddenly something changed. I was "invited" to participate in deep zero with certain corporations that I can only describe as some of the worst Feudalistic Overlords of Eve. At that point I was faced with a moral dilemma... become a "sell-out" and become a subservient cog in their machine... or stay in empire to develop a "revolutionary" force to fight for a place in Eve for the new pilots. The answer was clear...VIVA LA REVOLUCION!
So 2008 was spent organizing a new corporation in empire to strike at the "beast's" transports in highsec. The pitch was attractive and soon 45 pilots, new and old filled the ranks... but at this point something else happened... we were being noticed.. certain corporations liked our political agenda and began donating isk to support us.. (over 3 billion isk were donated in one month)... And others were watching, so much so that we were wardecced 5 times in six months. Three out of the five mercenary groups admitted they had been paid by zero space coporations that didn't like our agenda, and the fourth had been hired by one of the first three. We managed to fight thru all five wardecs until they were dropped, destroying more ships in isk than we lost... but RL intervened and thinking I was going to have to leave Eve.. I announced I had to step aside to let another member take over as CEO.
That was when something else happened... Just after I had resigned as CEO and before I was originally scheduled to leave Eve... My Corp mates awarded me a "medal". They said medals were a new "feature" of Eve.
The medal description reads:
"This medal is awarded to those brave pilots who show impressive skills in the field of leadership while exemplifying the revolutionary spirit. Recipients of this award have consistently aided in the training and leading of new recruits and veterans alike, and are looked to for guidance and assistance in the fields of combat and general game play.
Gold Shield, silver ribbon with three gold stars on gold Sun"
As things turned out, I didn't have to quit Eve. I left the Revolution to others and returned to zero.. but I will never forget the day those year old pilots awarded me that medal.
That was the day I felt I had won Eve...

<DIV content-type="x-silly"> Trying to win Eve is a great challenge, but for a dedicated few it proves truly satisfying. If you strive to achieve this goal, practice, practice, then practice some more. The final boss guy is extremely tough. Only if you prepare and coordinate well, through determination and resourcefulness victory can be attained. Then, for a real challenge, start anew and try to beat the entire game in single player mode.

Do it Cat. Seriously.
In regards to the Op one of the things that attracts me to Eve is that it is not winnable. When I started Eve my dream was to fly a Mothership. I did that. It was dull. Along the way though I found so many other things that are enjoyable to do and people to spend time shooting the breeze with. I guess the endgame is to have fun. Which I am doing.
