Me and another friend have already started specializing with the Arbitrator, but my other friend is torn between a Vexor and a Thorax. Which is better for gangs, or does it matter? We'd probably only PvP together. |

Vexor, Arbitrator, and Thorax will make a pretty solid three-person gang. Vexor and Thorax are going to be the big DPS dealers because the Arbitrator suffers a bit on fitting if you also want any kind of tank. The Arbitrator will be the main tackler with a long scram and two tracking disruptors, although the Vexor and Thorax should each have a web at least, and one should have a short scram to kill MWDs.
It's a popular move to fit small guns and a 1600 plate on cruisers, but honestly when you're in a gang with three cruisers at least someone should have medium turrets. In this case the Thorax is probably best, since it has the best fitting stats.
If you have two Arbitrators and a Vexor your DPS will be low if you're new players. Two Arbitrators and a Thorax on the other hand will be quite effective. Put a short scram and web on the Thorax, and put long scrams and TDs on the Arbitrators and go to town. |

Do the Rax. Two arbies is going to tear into anyone, and with a rax for dps, you're set. Please resize your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

Edited by: Garmon on 14/06/2009 05:06:26 One option you can consider is having a max tank ship and having the other two guys in max gank ships, if you warp in the tank first they're allways primary
This post is just to give other people an idea about a 3 cruiser gang, or maybe something you can work for in the future even, I think Dirk gave you a good enough answer
Max tank Laser thorax like this
And two 750 dps vexors like this
It will give you the option to fight outnumbered/outgunned like this |

Once you cut your gang pvp teeth with some good natured t1 cruiser fun move on to a couple of stealth bombers and a recon. Loads of jollies to be had with that trio atm. |

the vexor and thorax are both very similar ships. both do in your face with blasters and drones. although the vexor has a bit more utility with the larger drone bay. although a bit less tank.
depending on his skills play with some fits and see what does better with his skills and with ideal skills.
the vexor with a rack of blasters and 2 ogre, 2 hammerhead, 1 hobgoblin does a lot of damage for a cruiser. a bit of a soft target though. so to go along with what garmon said don't have it warp in first. or you can plate, and tank a bit more and have a larger drone selection. 5 warrior II's is always good to have.
the thorax throw a plate on it (I like an 800mm) some damage mods, a bit of tank (damage control and maybe an adaptive nano of somesort), mwd/scram/web, and get up close and start shooting. with 5 ecm drones or 5 medium scout drones. |
