Hi folks.
Just thought I'd put an "official" thread up here, just to let you know what's up.
If you haven't been over there yet, BattleClinic's changed things up a bit: www.battleclinic.com
We're in public beta now, so feel free to post any constructive comments on what you'd like to see here: http://forum.battleclinic.com/index.php/topic,49503.0/Tell-us-what-you-think-about-the-new-site.html
We're in beta for the next several weeks and will be refining functionality based on good feedback.
Thanks!

I personally find it a lot easier on the eyes and far better for quickly checking what the people have fitted / killed / lost. I think it is an improvement, other than some of the functionalities not working yet (raw mails, top 10 stats etc.) - I don't see how anyone could like the old layout as it was sluggish, slow and absolutely horrible. |

Nice modern design. But the navigation is weird. You need to go to EVE Online section, then you're able to go to killboard. Also, when I'm viewing a killboard and see search field at right, I expect to search for corps/pilots on the killboard, not forums.

Yeah, we don't think it's an unreasonable request. We'd like to encourage participation and discussion, and membership is a great way to help promote this. |

GL with that.
From other BC 'we don't think it's an unreasonable request' pool of thinking : - we don't think it's an unreasonable request to have DT very often for BC and Griefwatch. - we don't think it's an unreasonable request to beta test the ship loadout pannel on our users because EVE-DEV beat us to it and ours kills browsers. - we don't think it's an unreasonable request for you to ...
And ppl wonder why eve-dev is picking up speed. --- I smack just for myself.

Edited by: achoura on 17/06/2009 16:20:04 Requires registration to "promote discussion", hello temp emails. Thank god there isn't a free, most popular discussion forum not requiring registration hosted by the same people who make the game it's in competition with... I wonder just how many registered users actually used a legitimate email address?
I'll be interested in the stats of daily hits (mostly registered ones) and how they track over time now. I'll be more interested in how many of those supplied legitimate email addresses. It's funny really, that roughly two years ago every when website suddenly required registration the amount of spam rocketed. Similarly it's assuming watching the correlation between the number of sites requiring registration and the number of site offering temp emials. People enjoy privacy and anonymity, not to mention ease of use which the "oh god it wants me to register. I'll just go to another site" removes.
The killboard is old, cumbersom and a pain to navigate while eve-dev only continues to gain more ground over it. Why would anyone register when it offers nothing over these (non-registered) forums in either fitting or discussions bar a small flash window which is really nothing special. Please explain how removing the ability to casually brows fittings benefits users most of whom arn't on the site for a discussion.
Oh and the killboard is refusing to update unless i supply it with my full api key. Thanks but no thanks. |

You have not responded to anything just said so pretty much all I can say is that you fail epically. And then, he killed the dog... |

I only suggest that you hire someone to handle webpage design, this mosaic of terror thing you've been using for years has got to go. I'm not going to register to flame the kill detail page, I assume it's as slow and poorly laid out as ever. |

I did actually take the time to fully articulate my views but once the forums decide to log you out three times you start to loose interest. Still it's reassuring that you can take negative criticism are well as you take people kissing your feet.
You do not need a full api key for killmails.
You do not need access to:
- my transactions
- my market orders
- my assets
- my production jobs
and in the case of directors;
- corporate transactions
- corporate market orders
- corporate assets
- corporate production jobs
- pos locations and fittings
- pos fuel levels
Now before the condensing remark, no other killboard asks for this (alliance boards ceos excluded) because it's not needed, the limited api is sufficient for kills. Ignorance can't be an excuses thanks to the big red warning ccp attaches. I assume a large part of the user base is ignorant to the information they're handing out even with that but unless you're attempting to mine as much data as you can from that part of the user base there's no reason at all to use battelclinic over another, non-registered killboard which is probably why eve-dev/griefwatch has only become more popular.
Swapping between games and services is quick and easy, if only because a tabbed bar is so effectively simple but it can't detract form the fact that navigating/using the actual killboard is less than intuitive and the only thing the fittings offer over other forums is a nice flash screen which most people would put second to an active, experienced community (like scrapheap). It's the little things that stack up, that extra step, here and there that make you weary of having to repeat them each time like not just being able to go to battelclinic, type in a name and go to the killboard page but i saw you, elsewhere, telling someone else who mentioned this to go to eve > killboard > pilot and this is the problem. People tell you they just want something simple, you tell them you already have a more arduous, more complicated way so "no" then they can't understand why they can do it on-every-other-killboard.
This, combined with the api change, makes your business statment the only believable on. The service is overcomplicated (far more complicated than it's rivals), takes far more data than it actually needs to function (api, registration) and puts down any criticism other than open praise.
Ccp created two apis. One for trivial data, skill training, wallet balance and kills specifically for sidebar widgets and killboards. One for all data i.e. everything you could get if you were physically logged into a players account. Anyone asking for the latter to perform the former is never going to be trusted by anyone with half a brain.

Yeah, request for feedback seeems to be more of a "tell us how awesome this is" post. You may want to have a think about just why the feedback has been so negative. I mean really, if you're going to do a large update you'd atleast hope to be a getting a firm majority saying that it's an improvement but that seems to be a firm minority. The thing is BC really did need an update and the bar was set very low from the original site, yet you managed to ram your teeth straight into it. ________

Indeed. Perhaps a warning before posting wrong info, too?
Quote: navigating/using the actual killboard is less than intuitive
You didn't take the time to check your facts, so I can't expect you to put a little effort into familiarizing yourself with the new layout. And don't tell me 'an intuitive interface would not require this.' Change requires a bit of user effort to overcome patterned learning.

Incorrect (again). We let stand those posts that provide concrete suggestions for improvement, regardless of the delivery language.
