Important - Mercenary Assassination =======================
Mission briefing: ----------------------- I have something urgent for you this time. One of our bases in the vicinity was infiltrated by mercenaries working for the despicable Syndicate. These mercenaries managed to steal some documents with extremely sensitive information, revealing our current operations among other things, which may be used against us in the future. This must not fall into the hands of any Syndicate official. I want you to head out immediately and check the area around the planets in this constellation, make sure you intercept the spies before they manage to make the jump out of here. I will also give you a bookmark which will hopefully lead you to them. Take no prisoners. You have 24 hours to complete this job.
Oh and don't forget those mercenary wingmen come equipped with warp scramblers. I'm sure you know how to deal with them.
Standings ----------------------- This is an important mission, which will have significant impact on your faction standings.
Objectives ----------------------- To complete the mission, the following must be performed by you: one Mercenary Wingman, three Mercenary Elite Fighters and one Mercenary Commander must be destroyed in XXX
Rewards ----------------------- Upon completing the mission, the following will be awarded to you: 155000 credits
Bonus Rewards ----------------------- The following bonuses may be awarded to you: eleven hundred units of Consumer Electronics at XXX - Federal Customs station - if you complete the mission before 2004.09.17 13:17 -------------------------------------------- [2005.02.08 13:58:16] Your Mega Beam Laser II perfectly strikes Sansha's Beast, wrecking for 709.6 damage.

its not bad, take the wingman first, then the frigs. Commander is easy. Keep distance to avoid being scrambled. Once they close they orbit you rather fast. Hard to hit the little buggers.

Thousands of people have had this mission thousands of times since the last patch.
New and improved with red text a few days later for all those without a clue in the bank.
This one generally falls int the YAWN category of missions, as most of us around here quickly agreed.
Incidentally, those three "elite" frigates are anything but. Cardboard boxes with fireworks propulsion, *poof* after two or three volleys.

Nice to get something a little different, but it's hardly a challenge. I set my drones onto the wingman, than started shooting the rest of the spawn with my mega pulses.
I might have to work on the drones though, the rest of the spawn was dead before the wingman.

i agree, easy mission. i take out the elite frigs first at around 50km with heavy missiles, one volley per frig and the commander is easy as well in my caracal....been meaning to leave one elite frig alive and let it come close, to see what exactly makes them "elite"..... ------------------------------------------------

It is obvious each kill mission is looked at easy or hard based on the player doing the mission. A 10million skill point player has a different perspective than a 2million player. I would like to say this would be tough without at least a million skill points in your gunnery skills. --------------------------
Garsh ma it soo cool killing people in there space thingies |

Actually my main has no issue with this and he only has 1 million total skill points.
Caracal, MWD, and heavy missiles=Dead Rats
Now if I was trying this in a something other than a missile boat I might be screwed..

I've done this mission several times and its always been cake. I also have a little less than 1 million in gunnery. I do however have a lot of real life skill It doesn't matter what your gunnery is, as long as you are a skilled player with a beautiful airship.

Just curious what you guys consider a "challenging mission" or even a fun mission. I have been doing lvl 2 missions in my Merlin and as long as I keep my distance I never have a challenge (boring). Oh Im new so I have close to 400,000 SP

berserk and blockade are some of the more challenging missions, but easely done in a caracal, as long as you know when to warp out, recharge shields and come back....same with any missions involving rogue pirate escorts. again though, easy enough when they're kept at distance. in the end it all boils down to using the right tactic for the situation/ship you're using.
also i hear the mordus mission seems quite the challenge. haven't had that one yet though. ------------------------------------------------

Well, given what's been said about this mission (and the other big thread about the Mordus Headhunters missions) I must just have been lucky.
I started in EVE less than 3 weeks ago, and have a whopping total of 370,091 skill points- many of them in Trade skills as I had planned to be a trader and didn't realise that some of the skills weren't fully implemented as yet.
I've done this mission 4 times since yesterday, and the other Headhunters mission 2 or 3 times, and have had no problems with them apart from running out of missiles on my first attempt at the Headhunters mission.
Like I said, maybe I've just been lucky :)
