I'm starting to run Level 4 missions, and was wondering if 578 Defense is enough to tank the missions. I'm sitting at around 450-480 dps depending on the drones I use. Volly is around 2000. Does this sound okay for running level 4s?
All stats were found in EFT

Sounds OK-ish depending on how far you can throw that DPS. If you can do that DPS at 50-70 km reliably, then you should be able to pull of at least the easy L4 missions. Volley is irrelevant for missions for the most part. Is that tank rat-specific or uniform damage? You definitely want rat-specific tanking for L4's.

Mega for easier to tank missions like this:
Tops lots = Full Rack of Neutron Blasters
Mids = 100mn AB (pimped or otherwise) some Cap Charger II's
Lows = 1 LARII 4 Rat specific hardners + Mag stab + Cap Relay
Rigs = 2 x CCC 1 x Nano pump
This gives you a shedload of DPS (about 900 at max skillage) and about 650 DPS tank depending on mission rat. As for drones i use 2 flights of mediums. Since i'm in Amarr space thats usually 1 of infiltrators and 1 of Valkyries (for AE or Guristas missions) and a flight of Hobo's
There are some missions that 1 rep just isn't good for. Enemies abound 1 of 5 and 5 of 5 to name 2. For those missions there is the Un fun but hard as nails Domi.
Tops slots = 1 Drone link 2 tractors 2 salvagers and a 'everybody shoot me!!! gun'
Mids = 5 Cap charger II's
Lows = 2 LARII's 4 hardners 1 EANMII
Rigs = 1 Nano pump and 2 x CCC's
Tankage with the Nano pump puts it at the same as two navy reps without the need to spend 200 mil more isk. Also who needs guns on a domi. Small rails fail spectacuarly. Like my spelling. So just amble round the mission being shot at whilst tidying up after your drones. Domis drones... what ever you like you have a feth load of space.

Your original setup looks fine. The general rule is Dps + tank > 1000. With at least 400 of that being dps. Since you meet this you should be fine.
I personally run with around 350-400 tank and don't have any issues. |
