I know that there are 6 different lvls of Wormholes, apart from the chance of getting better sites in higher lvls, how do the sleepers change? Do they give better loot, does their ai get better? etc
Thanks in advance

What really makes them different is the sites in the W-space. Sites are splited into 3 groups: perimeter (easiest), frontier and core (hardest). In W-space with higher class, the chance of spawning a frontier/core site is much higher, therefore the average difficulty is higher. Also there will be much tougher sleepers in core sites, for example, rats in perimeter sites rarely remote repair and warp scramble, those in core sites will however very likely warp scramble you. If you get two exactly same sites in different class W-space, the difficulty of both sites should be the same. |

Classes 1 and 2 spawn Beginner sleepers in their sites. These Sleepers are generally solo-able in a good ship but also drop the least profitable vein of loot and have the worst of sleeper salvage. Classes 3-4 spawn Intermediate sleepers, which are not solo-able beyond a certain point - even the best of tank ships, i.e. nighthawk and vulture, will have a hard time if they don't manage spawns correctly. These sleepers drop better loot and salvage but generally need to be tackled in teams to get any reasonable amount of sites finished. Classes 5 and 6 are the hardest wormholes, spawning Advanced sleepers. Class 5s are not solo-able except in perhaps a capital ship, but even then capitals are often killed by sleepers there. Class 6 is not solo-able, and most corporations don't even have pilots with the right setups or experience to survive them. Sleepers here will alpha-off your shields and armor on 80% resistances.
Coinciding with these increases in difficulty are differences in profit (obviously) and a few key differences in sleeper behavior. In classes 1 and 2, sleepers do not scram, web, RR each other or neut you at all. In classes 3 and 4, sleepers scramble and web from obscene distances and occasionally RR each other. In classes 5 and 6, sleepers scamble, web, and vamp you, while many of their ships RR each other.
Lastly, there's the obvious: Wormholes leading into and out of higher-class space have more mass than the lower-class wormholes. Those are the basic differences between wormhole classes. -CEO of AC-AF- |

So... what's a "good" ship?

For a class 1 or 2, i find a "good" ship is a drake or most kinds of battlecruiser with a decent tank. I say drake because my baby with a 307dps tank and 50% resistances can solo every class 2 site there is.
Get something of this standard or better and you'll breeze the lower classes. Class 3 upwards generally need a group using RR, especially for the upper tiers. |

It's rare to find a wormhole that will let a BS into a class 1 so you're limited to cruisers and battlecruisers. With care and patience a well tanked T1 cruiser can make some progress on some sites but you're almost certainly better off in the BC. A T2 cruiser (from anecdotal evidence) can do pretty well.
Class 2 and above you're generally best off in a BS imho. And the best tanked one that you can fit in. I've done some class 3 frontier in a T2 tanked Dominix and it was sufficient to survive with caution, although expensive in drones. There were certainly sites that I went into that I just warped out of and never went back if I thought I couldn't handle them.
Class 3 is a big step up because warp scramble and remote repair become much more common. This can put you in the situation of not being able to warp out and not having the DPS to break the remote repaired scrambling frigates. And, of course, the rats do more damage so your tank is under a lot more threat.

OK, so I might not be totally suicidal to go in to a 1 or a 2 in a Harbinger or a Prophecy, then? I'm not cross-trained on Caldari (or any other race, for that matter), so I'm limited to Amarr ships. I can use a lot of T2 modules, but not T2 medium energy turrets (yet), so my dps is going to be a bit lame.

If you have high battlecruiser skill then I'd go with the Prophecy (with the caveat that I haven't flown Amarr ships in wormholes, I've flown Gallente.) In class one or two wormholes the rats don't repair very much so you can chew away on one, warp out if you're losing tank then warp back in once you've repaired and finish it. Having the extra tank to deal with an unexpected sleeper BS spawn is very handy.
Take a flight of drones, sometimes the sleepers will target them so if you're warp scrambled (v. rare in a class 2) and about to die they give you a chance to get out.
Just be aware that you will be orbited at about 7km by a bunch of webifying frigates (esp in class 2), at about 20km by frigates and 45km by battleships (ranges from memory, it's been a few weeks). If you can't kill the frigates you wont be able to close with or run away from the other ships as you'll be horrifically webbed. Popping all the frigates usually results in another wave of frigates getting spawned.

Go with a web and pulse lasers if your using a harbinger or a prophecy. That way you can melt frigs fairly quickly easily. |
