Quad Core, 8800GTS (Should have been a GTX m8 sorry but the GTS sucks ass compared) And the most FPS you can pull is 60?
Ok my m8's machine Core2Duo 2.6 XFX 8800GTX 2Gb Corsair nForce 680i
FPS?
250 In station 105 in Warp 70-90 in combat in a belt.
My Rig AMD 3800+ 2.4 1 Gb Twinmos CL2.5 8800GTX nForce4 chipset mobo
FPS?
90 in station 60 in warp 40-50 in combat in a belt.
Tell ya summat wong with that Quad.
Seriously tho, i reckon half the fps probs peeps are gettin is purely down to setup. For example my other 3 Eve machines.
Machine 1 AMD2200+ 1Gb Ram GF5600XT FPS? 20-30 In a station That sux.
Machine 2 AMD64 3200+ @2.11Ghz 1Gb Crucial CL3 DDR Dual Channel Mode GF6600 LE FPS? 50 in station. Stable 30-40 in space 20-30 in combat (missions)
Machine 3 Intel P4 1.8 Third Gen 1Gb DDR PC2100 GF4Ti 4800 FPS? 40-45 in station. Stable 30-40 in space 20-30 in combat (missions)
Question: Now why does the 2200+ suck so bad? Answer: Heat. Fecker gets really hot prolly has something to do with the 3 18Gb 10K RPM U160 SCSI disks in the box.
My point of this post?
Always check you setup. You may have the dogs bollox in kit but if you set it up wrong a 4th gen nVidia card will kick your butt. I know whats the problem with my main rig (the 8800GTX) its CPU, the chip just isn't man enuff to feed the card what it wants. But eve sure looks beautiful at 1280x1024 16x AA 16xAF Supersampling and all the fancy bits turned on.
O and btw those who can do this in their driver FORCE VERTICAL SYNC OFF..eve will try and sync with the monitor refresh rate.

Edited by: Commander Stringer on 09/12/2006 11:28:20 ack double post.
Just thought of something else, there was mention on the forums before about multi-core systems, Eve is not fully multi-core aware afaik, try setting that exefile.exe to a single core rather than letting it try to work it out for itself.

I put this in its own post but I'll also add it here..
I've been looking at this problem for a while, I was wondering why my 8800GTX was only pulling 70-80 FPS in station and dire fps while in space.
Well, I c r acked it. In the graphics option there is a setting for Enable advanced Naturalpoint Tracker head tracking (btw its mispelt option says Trackir) enabling this effectively halves your running fps and causes the game to pause every second. I disabled the option and my orbit station fps shoots up to 170. Low for a GTX I know but I'm not running it on optimal hardware after only have a couple hundred quid budget but still bloody excellant considering.
So, for other peeps having FPS probs or unexplainable pauses check that this option is not enabled.

ok, i'll give you an example of how much the UI hurts your FPS.
My Rig AMD Athlon 64 3800+ @ 2.64Ghz 1Gb Twinmos CL2.5 DDR400 ASUS A8N32SLi-Deluxe Creative Audigy Platinum Nvidia 8800GTX o/c 600Mhz Core, 2Ghz Memory (2x1Ghz DDR) 1.4Ghz Shader Clock (Stock settings are 575/1800/1350)
My FPS while orbiting in station -- 130 My FPS while orbiting in station with UI off -- 330
Thats a total killing of 200fps just down to the UI...
Yeah i know that 130fps rulz (its around 70-90 in space) but thats just an illustration of how resource heavy the Eve HUD actually is.
I screenied both and mailed em off to CCP...what they do with the proof i don't know but we can but hope. ........
