Well all my Asus G2S-A1 is being offered on the block for a replacement (9 RMAs later) for a Asus G71G-Q1... specs here:

Now I am not that familiar with this particular system, I was using the G2, and was following the G73-75s, this was the 2009 model I guess from what I am seeing...while the reviews rave about it (they aways do)... the realities are what I want to know about.
I am sure there must be a few of you using this system and playing EVE... can you give me the thumbs up or down and why... so I can either say OK, to this or present some reasons why NO and bargain for something else with them?
Thanks, Time sensitive here, so the faster responses are better, prob have a few days to consider it before I must do something.
I would prefer a G-73 that I could support better, but this does look like a pretty nice system - just need more info to go on, and testimonials are the best for what I am lacking in knowledge here.

it will play eve, maybe not at 60 fps though. and probably not in CQ.
i have a 2.1ghz dual core and crappier gfx card and i get like 20fps in space, believe it or not 20fps works fine in eve since the game is so slow.
CQ is unusable though |

2fps would work okay with EVE, since server ticks at 1 second. |

At 1920x1080 you're going to choke hard with high settings, intense AA, Captain's quarters, etc.
But it WILL run it depending on how low you're willing to go graphics wise. |

I can run an account on low settings at 60 fps, 1440x900 windowed, on my old P4C 3.0G + AGP Radeon 3600HD box. Can run two accounts at the same time with a moderate degree of choppiness. This is an eight-year-old computer. Unless your requirements are 1080p with every single bit of eye candy at max, you'll be fine, at least reliably running one account at a decent resolution and medium-high settings. |

Thanks for the input, any more is appreciated, I have a couple days to mull it over but want to have something locked with the other person on the other end by Monday at the latest.
Anyway, I was running this at this (prior to the 9th repair on it - which I guess is the magic number for replacement).
2008 (got 2300.00 G2S -256MB 8600M with 2 GB and a T7500 processor) ran EVE on all all high and everything until Incarna, then I had to drop some things off - shadows, HDL and such (Note I always had AA off, and other such things) - but I went from high to medium on shader, text and such.
Anyway that would run at about 50ish most of the time, and native was 1900x1600 on the 17.inch.
I am wondering if they (CCP) goes to Tessalation and all this V3 thing, is a 512MB 9800M going to be good enough? or am I going to hit a wall with it at some point in the near future and be back to square one.
Also has anyone every negotiated with a replacement and gotten a better than offered replacement? and if so, how did you do it? just ask or was trading for sex involved (hehe)....?

Planning on getting a U2 (17in version) pad for it with the modular fan units on it... def after this last time, cooling is good... the last one ran so hot even with one that I could roast a chicken next to it (prob the defect)... also it had not intakes on the bottom really and I often was forced to take the bottom panel off, to get air flow up into it.
EVE server is set to tick at 1 second... could you explain this please (above post) from the person (or anyone that knows) that stated this.
Also I believe from all indications that this systems MXM card is easy to upgrade to the 1GB version or even a different card, as the following updated systems with the same board put in better these cards and I have seen the internal setup... with a 1GB VRAM card the CQ should work, though I never use it... rather I love my Hangar/SS...
Hopefully I shall be back to internet spaceships this week sometime or by next week at the outside
