It is getting so freaking hard to join corporations now because of all these corp scammers. I have seriously had an easier time going to an interview and getting a real life job than some of the hoops corporations now want people to jump through just to join. Its not like i want director roles or anything but they need API info, screenshots, probation periods, question you about every little detail of your eve life.
After a point, **** it, I'll stay in the npc corp.
And this is from someone who only has 1 other corp in my empolyment history and no alts... I can't imagine what other people have to go through.

The other thing that really ticks me off is when i'll be in their recruitment chat or whatever just hanging out looking for people to talk to and they act like i'm a spy or something.

whats wrong with api?
if your a ****** that has a bad history then API will find you out. otherwise , there is nothing wrong atall with it. the reasons are simple, and idiotproof why a corp would want to know all about you before you enter their corp. and also, as there is no real penalty like in real life for nefarious deeds, they should be able to do it.
so, in the end, deal with it |

Actually, that REEKS of spy. What sounds more like a spy: A person with a lot of player corps and easily checked references or a player in an NPC corp all his life and claims he has no alts. Hmmmm? Also, you would want to join a corp that had no security measures?
Cryptical: Science and Trade Institute from 2009.05.27 20:28 to this day
1 other corp and no alts hmmm? God, you are a terrible liar.
Playing with others means doing things you don't always want to do. It's called making friends and stuff, but you can go about your anti-social attitude and see how far that gets you, jerk.

Ive been with eve for a decent amount of time.... I find it really funny how people treat this game as if it is "Real Life"
Some people are so involved in it that they buy PlEX's with real money to get fake money... To me that's like offering a opponent on monopoly 5 bucks real money for 5000 fake so they can can get Park Place. I agree with OP that most people in this game really need to lighten up a bit and have fun. If you get a spy in your midst fine boot them out and move on.
It really is just another game that one day the servers go down for the last time and everyone will move forward to the next best thing. This happens with all games. |

You don't have to get paid to make a job real. And this does not always happen, even a failure like SWG is still running. |

I wouldn't consider 75k subscribers a failure. That's over a million/month and considering it's SOE, they probably have like 1 guy, maybe 2 tops getting paid a decent salary. But it was decided to shut down MxO when it had like 30-50k, so I guess in a maximum of 2 years, SWG will be gone.
Taking into account that most companies are not like SOE and would prefer to keep their game running at 15k subscribers than shut it down, I truly expect most of us to die before EVE does.

make that >200k subscribers. the 75k is just those who are online at the same time.
this icelandic company has more customers than iceland has citicens.
however, virtual life - is life too, behind each "toon" is a real person - upset him, and he is upset, be kind to him - and he feels better - just because we are "anonymous" doesnt mean we should screw each other over where we can.
i cat honorable in life, and so i do as a player - in character might be a different matter, but the application in order to "dissolve alliance" and similar (as recently happened between two large groups who have taken the game too far into their real life) is just not acceptable.
naturally, you have to at least take some minimum paranoia steps against this metagaming , so you can at least say to your self - "at least i have tried to keep the game clean for myself and my corp" - still better than not to try, and then have the game screwed for your friends and yourself.
corp ceo's have a huge responsibility in that sense, because one foul egg slipping into the alliance basked can destroy the ingame fun for an entire alliance .. thousands of real people, who invested real time and real brains into this .. oh so unimportant spaceship game....
i would not join a corp that doesnt check me out these days. recruiting -forum

He was talking about SWG, not EVE. 75k total subscribers for a MMO in general is decent tbh. I was GM in one that had 10k, we only had one dev employee, and the subscription part was re-routed to another company that took a % for doing the work. Keeping a game alive with 10k subscriber is definately possible. But that's a tad off-topic. |
