I just bought my first BPOs yesterday (1 and 10mn MWD I's) and made use of a factory for the first time. In one of the tabs there was a field called "base cost" (or maybe "base price," I forget). Is that in ISK, and how is it calculated? I ask because I noticed that the amount listed was literally ten times the amount that many of the same units were selling for on the market. Is it a true calculation of my cost in minerals, or do I have to manually figure that out in order to know what my sell price should be?
Thanks in advance for your help

dunno how they calculate that cost price....it's usually way off
I just add up my mins cost, and a little for the BP and the factory + a nice little profit of course

I dont even use their base cost deal. Usually its so off I expect some short guy in a white tux to come out going "da plane, da plane". (joke).
A couple things to remember. First PRODUCTION EFFICENCY and MINERAL EFFICENCY mean alot. What is your PE as a builder? What is the BPO's mineral efficency researched to? I can't tell you how much difference those two items make in the long run (for a Battleship we're talking MILLIONS of isk difference in minerals). Even small things like AB's add up over time. Keep in mind some prices you may see that are lower are probably professional builders who have very researched BP's to work with.

and I always thought the base cost was the real price of the bpo before it was marked up by some get rich quick guy. at least it used to be before tech 2 came out My alt hates me, I don't know why. he won't even talk to me anymore |

base price is the raw npc price of the bp before the market supply and demand took hold. Tech2 is always set to 9999999 along with certain tech1

Well it's good to hear that I can ignore that figure; thinking my base cost (I have yet to work on PE) was 10X what other ppl were charging for the same items was a bit discouraging, hehehe.
Thanks for the help, folks
