I remember reading something by Oveus, or maybe tomb mentioning that new ships called Freighters would be coming out, that were very very large capacity, no turret pts, basically just for like moving bulk mins.
I was just curious, are these slated to come out with Shiva, or post Shiva? Any info on em? Thanks

arnt these called indys???
dont see why a new class of indy is needed, the turret slot is next to uselss on them anyway. maybe tech 2 indys tho O.o

Freighters are intended to be super-indies -- can't be loaded in space, but can haul massive amounts of materials station-to-station. That's the idea, at least. ;) Dunno when implementation is intended, or if the idea'll follow through very well -- but I'd suspect late shiva.

yeah, there's no direct mention in the shiva info, but I'd figure somewhere around the end of the Shiva updates...
but also don't be surprised if it's not in at all... could be Kali by the time we see them...
i remember the mentionings in other threads by the powers that be, something to the general effect of a super indy with specific moduals they can fit for benifits to storage of specific materials...
like one for trade goods, one for ore, one for components and so on...
like the previous poster said, no loading in space or anything like a true indy... but for moving bulk "stuff" they are ideal...

There was some mention of this in one of the recent dev chats available on EVE Gate or EVE-I, I can't remember which. They'd be ships that could not load in space, they are purely for transfers from station to station. As well it's been indicated before that at some point some kind of industrial module was pondered as being able to hold certain type of dangerous goods, as someone else has mentioned here already. No idea if they're still keeping up with that idea or not (though I think it sounds pretty cool. personally).

They will be built by the ORE syndicate, they will have massive cargo capacity, they will be slow and weak, they can only be loaded in stations and they MIGHT be backported to the Shiva implementation.

they said they were kali material that because of such high demand they might have to put it on the servers sooner ;p im pretty damn sure theyre not with shiva ;p >< so lets keep askin for it :D
