-Hi- Heavy Launchers -Med- 10MN MWD Cap Recharger Cap Recharger -Low- Warp Core Stab (incase you screw up and get webbed/scrambled) Cap Relays
I've used this setup for every level III kill mission I've run into (even Mordus). You can take out any NPC rat at 60km, keep a range of 50-60km... hit the mwd when needed. Usually you can pop a frigate in 1 volley, cruiser rats take a bit more. I use Thunderbolts in 1-2 of the launchers and Scourge in the rest.

Why would you need so much cap on a missle boat anyway???

i use:
4x heavy launchers 1x rocket launcher with defenders -- 1x 10mn MWD 1x M Shield booster 2x shield hardeners --- 1x ballistic control 1x sensor booster ---
All the modules are named, except the ballistic control and RL. I can do all lvl 3 missions, inc the mordus. Just make sure the first ship you lock and fire at is the bounty hunter as he is the only one who can web/scramble, after that just keep 40km+ and fire away. Thunderbolts and scrouge in the launchers.
It's surprisingly easy, and very boring doing missions in a caracal tho, but it gets the job done. :)

out of curiosity, how come you guys are using cap relays/rechargers? with 5 missiles launchers not using any cap at all, and only a MWD being used every now and again to keep the distance, surly the cap situation isn't a problem?
I found that using the caracal you're more than often out of range of any ships, and the odd time you do get hit isn't really a problem. even with my setup using shield boosters/hardeners I could replace them with any other module since I hardly ever activate them. I havn't tried this, but perhaps fit sensor dampners to further lower their range (do dampners eve work on NPCs? :s )
As long as you have the heavy launchers, MWD and ballistic control, the rest is optional, you could even leave the slots empty, but that would be stupid

Necrosis' setup should be able to run the MWD non-stop.
That shouldn't be needed except for pvp though.

ok ive found some modules and heres what i got fitted
1 arb, 2 xr-3200, 1 limo 1 malk (horrible volley time differences but still good)
1 10mn mwd, 1 med clarity, 2 recharger
2 ballistic control
seems to work well, now i just need to worry about a supply of scourge missiles.

5x Limos Heavies (high) 10nm MWD, Small T2 Sheild booster, 2x barton cap rechargers (med) 2x balistic DMG mod (low)
339/360 CPU 457/750 PG With MWD, around 1100m/s
just lob missiles into combat, I've done the sabotage mission with this, all launchers loaded with scourges

Edited by: Gungankllr on 24/09/2004 09:13:10 I never used an MWD, I just mounted a shield booster, 2 hardeners for whatever NPC's I was fighting and a Sensor Booster.
Since NPC's only do two types of damage typically, the two hardeners cut damage incoming by 50%, and the sensor booster cuts lock time by about half and adds about 50% sensor range.
In lows I put in a Ballistic control and a module of choice. I've tried quite a few different modules, but I usually ended putting in a Power Distribution module or a named overdrive.
Personal preference really. I just didn't like the 25% reduction in CAP and Shields from the MWD, and with the extra cap power and the damage reduction from the hardeners (in addition to the sensor range) I rarely had major problems with NPC's.
When I flew a cruiser I flew a Moa with 4 250's and 2 heavy launchers, and I could kite at 60km without getting shot down to more than 75% shields.
the same principle should work for a Caracal.
By the way, did I mention that we build all available standard cruisers at reasonable prices?
