Edited by: Industry Tycoon on 22/06/2009 11:06:04 ..to do some copying and inventing. Apart from the obvious control tower needed+fuel, what other key essentials do I need in the POS. I only intend to use it for copying and invention.
Mobile advanced lab seems to have only 3 copy slots per lab. =[
Whats the limit on the number of labs I can have in one POS?
Any recommendations on a system to put the POS in?
Thanks.
Edit: Dammit posted with scout alt lol, why does it always change my char on the forum, GOD. |

first of all i recomend a highsec POS if you have that capability. it saves the trouble of random attacks.
also eventho an advanced lab has only 3 copy slots a normal lab only has 1. also the advanced lab has a 0.65 multiplier on the copy time so it copies alot faster.
there is no realy limit in amount of labs. just the powergrid and CPU of the tower.
depending on howmuch youl use the slots id say 1-2 advanced labs and 1 normal (if its just you using it it should be enough) |

So I can have as many labs as I want as long as it fits the powergrid/cpu units of the tower?
I'm really looking for 4 advanced labs to give me 12 copy slots...is that doable? If not, what about a named large tower?
Is this all I need then to work the POS? The labs, the tower and fuel? How about some sort of storage to dump a few weeks of fuel in etc?
I assume I have to start my own corp in order to set up the POS?
Edit. lol weird, cant even select my other char to post from.

Labs are mostly CPU intensive, So a Medium Minmatar pos can online 5 labs easilly and a couple of three shield hardeners. Best advice is to anchore in hisec 0.5 system that has an NPC station and remote research from there.

And yes you need to be in a corp with a sec status = to or more than the system security, so for matari you would need at least a sec status of 5 to anchor in a 05 hisec system.

Oh nuts...This is a strongly industrial character. Corp standing is different from my own personal standing right? So if I were to create a corp, how would I get enough standing to anchor in a 0.8 for example.? |

There are infact corps out there that advertise to set up a corp for you with enough standings to allow you to anchor a pos, or even anchor it for you. Avg price I think is about 250M plus the costs of the pos etc.
I cannot think of any leads for you, but several so in fact advertise their services here on the Evo forums.

Interesting. If it doesn't take much mission running to get 1.0 or 2.0 caldari standing I could do that. Does it take long? Keeping in mind I only have level 3 missions for caldari state available to me.
Thanks for your suggestion, what section to they advertise in?

Keep in mind that you need x10 rating for whatever system you want to setup in. So for .5 sec rating you need 5.0 caldari standings. in the sticky for the sell forum, you will see people offering anchoring services. These people will make a corp for you and you will have 7 days to anchor (before your own standings pulls the corp down). These people have upwards of 9.0 standings, i havent found someone with 1.0 yet
The cost for this ranges from 200 million for .6 systems to 500 million for .9 systems

Its not the Caldari State Standing ( When you mission run, and get story lines you get Caldari State Standings )
Caldari Navy is a Faction of the Caldari State.
They should say like Regional Standing for empire.. Caldari , Minitar , ..ect

Just to give you an example, I started playing last August. I did some serious mission running from mid October through the end of last year, had a gap between Jan 1 and early April where I could not play, then went back to it. I hit the 7.0 Amarr Empire standing mark 3 weeks ago. This does include doing about 12 different sets of Blood Raider and Sansha tag turn ins as well, but no COSMOS missions. It takes time to get standings that high.
It you look over in the Sell Orders forum, there's a sticky thread with a bunch of links to people who provide these services. Depending on what you need, they can join your corp for a week until the standings adjust up, or they can create a new corp and after the standings adjust up turn it over to you. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

I used ganji ancient to raise my standings, he was good. I recommend him.
For towers, go for a dread guristas. It's worth it. |

While expensive, doing the datacenters and the Cosmos missions helps a lot. Doing those and less than 2 weeks of Level 4 courier missions I went from 3.08 to just over 7 before connections. If you use a site like http://www.eve-agents.com you should be able to find a location with 8 or 9 level 4 courier agents in a 1 or 2 jump range. With that you should be able to get at least 2 if not 3 storyline missions an hour!!!! However it seems the storyline agents I got liked to give out Materials for War which sucks for faction increases.

There seems to be some bad advice here:

You can't anchor in a 0.9 or 0.8 space - you can't even anchor a secure container, let alone a POS. Anchoring of anything is only possible in 0.7 or below.

That's just confusing.
Caldari Navy is a corporation within the Caldari State. Caldari State is a faction.
You run 16 regular missions with a corporation or a range of corporations within a faction (and at the same level) to get one storyline mission. A storyline mission is one of the primary methods of gaining faction standing with the Caldari State.
It's the faction standing that allows you to anchor a POS.
Your player corp gets faction standing by taking the average of all members in the corp that have standing with that faction who have been in the corp for 7 days (and it's the un-modified standing, before the connections skill is taken into account that you need).
If you want to see what all the different agents are, what they do, how they fit into corporations and factions take a look at Eve-Agents |

Industry Tycoon knows nothing about POSes? I guess thats possible :P
Something you should take into account before complaining about advanced mobile labs.....standard labs only have 1 copy slot. So imagine trying to make copies when only the standards were in game!

A Caldari Small tower with 2 advanced labs and 1 mobile lab - 7 Copy, 7 ME, 3 PE, & 9 Invention slots - is a good start if you are just getting into invention. Yes, Guristas are cheaper on the fuel, but it takes quite a while to break even.
Don't worry about defenses in hisec.
A small POS is not really defensible, and your best bet is to just take it down in the wardec 24 hour startup period and wait for your attackers to get bored. As long as it's in a system with an NPC station, the total lack of defenses should be a clear indicator that you won't be coming out to play and that there is little point in paying for the war.
If going for shipbuilding, note that ME research is a pain and you may well be better off buying the T1 hull you need for T2 construction on the open market than building it with a suboptimal BPO.
Just try to find a system that doesn't have its manufacturing slots too heavily utilised. --- Some days you are the pigeon, and some the statue. |
