Hi,
I recently tried a lvl 4 mission (massive attack, serpentis) in my myrm. As most ppl say you should do lvl4 in a BS I was prepared to loose my ship or at least have to warp out serveral times. Well I did not just manage to do the mission, but I always had left more then 90% of my armor (on armor tanked myrm). That was a very unexpected result... So I thought low sec plexes are also very doable in my myrm. I scanned down a site in 0.4 space. Boarded my myrm and enthusiastically warped to the Serpentis Site. I got scrammed immediatly by 4 elite frigs. No problem I though and launched my drones they quickly took care of the first frig. Then the BSes and sentries aggroed and my ship was blown to pieces before my drones took out the fourth frig...
So was i just very unlucky with the low sec site, or are they generally much harder then lvl 4 missions? I thought toughness of sites depends on sec status and so the site in 0.4 sec space should be the easiest, or is this wrong? |

A plex is always harder then missions. Try a HAC (ishtar is a good one) or a command ship for plexes. |

There's a reason the Massive Attack mission is called 'Massive Suck' within the L4 community because it's one of the easiest, most annoying missions in the game. Not a lot of rewards, lots of travel in between gates, no challenge. So basically you ran into an easy L4 mission. Don't use that one mission as a predictor on how you're going to do in L4 missions in general. There are plenty of L4's missions out there that will kick you into submission, and if you're not careful will kill your ship. |

Massive Attack should be classified as a mid level 3 mission. You should have 0 difficulty with it in a BC, that being said, it is very possible to do almost all level 4s in a BC, as long as you watch your agro and don't shoot triggers early.
Here are the lvl 4 missions that might give you grief: EA 5 AE (bonus room) Damsel in Distress (if you shoot the triggers too early, both of them) Worlds Collide (second room, either faction)

It was my first lvl4 mission... but the title "massive attack" suggested that it's a pretty hard mission and the last pocked had 5 BS in it. 2 more then the scanned site, but the BS in the mission did a lot less damage, allthough the bounty was the same (750k per ship).

50:1 the reason they were doing alot more damage, you were webbed / scrammed ie not moving, making the large class weapons actually hit you for full damage.
example I ran a pile of level 4 missions in my prophecy ( amarr BC ) , while waiting on battleships / large turrets to skill. I more or less didn't take damage from the battleships as long as I got rid of the web effects ( usually the same frigs that scram you )
Once the BC was up to afterburner speed I could kill the rest of the mission, taking minimal damage, then close with each BS and kill it.
Now in a BS I get hit for full most of the time anyway by those weapons , but am able to tank them alot easier.
BS's aren't "required" for level 4 missions, they're required to make level 4 missions efficient to run, once you've got the skills to fly the thing.
or I could be full of poopie |

You should know by now that mission names don't mean anything, and that you need to look them up before you just jump in. Angel Extravanganza, for example, sounds all happy like a carnival with clowns and stuff, but the bonus room will kick your ass if you don't know what you're doing.
