WE have 2 versions of ECCM - med. and low-slot, with different stats. What about making 2 versions of target painters- mid and high slot, maybe we could make high-slot one shorter range and more powerfull. (or maybe another way round, whatever is needed) or leave it as it is. Many ships that do need target painters (drake, raven, domi could use one for drones) can't fit them because then they need to sacrafice too much tank/cap stability. MId slots are already very loaded with all sorts of ewar, however if you have a high-slot on let's say hurricane or another ship all you can fit is a vamp or smartbomb, and if you don't have enough powergrid for vamp, nothing, or if you plan to stay out of vamp. range. This would pretty much double use of target painters. |

I frequently find myself wondering what to put there, when I have more hardpoints than Hi-slots. In fact, I was thinking about this yesterday. I have at times put a tractor on my drake, cause I can't think of anything useful to put in that last hi-slot. Same goes for a lot of ships.
Also, target painters rule.
Suggestion: make TPs multi-slotted? So you can fit them in med OR hi-slots? Many item could use that feature... |

Edited by: Danton Marcellus on 23/06/2009 17:57:32 That'd overpower the midslot target painter and people would use those for other things making the painter an exclusive high slot module.
What I'd rather see are Bulkheads being remade to take no fitting requirements nor specific slots, you can stick them wherever you have a slot open for a HP boost. As is now it's the most useless mods in the game.
Should/would/could have, HAVE you chav!

All the issues you name are put in intentionally for the sake of balance. Big DPS isn't supposed to be attainable along with a big tank.

Edited by: Jack Pickles on 24/06/2009 11:40:50 Some years ago I pondered over the idea of making jammers into high slots mods based on a simple theory that they are offensive units just like guns. It would've given the Scorpion the ability to fit some kind of half decent shield tank (like most other BS can) and would still allow it to do the job for which is was intended.
Your idea is in a similar vein and therefore gets the thumbs up from me as long as the PG reqs for the high slot painter were somewhere near those of a large gun.
In response to the suggestion that it will unbalance ships by giving them better DPS and tank, this high slot painter idea would only benefit ships that shield tank, which for pvping wouldn't be such a bad thing and for ratting/missions wouldn't make a hell of alot of difference imo. |
