Ok so i have had a couple of months away from Eve so it's possible I just forgot something to do with new scanning system, i was using it for only a few weeks before my hiatus.
Here's the problem, with 4 or 5 combat probes out I get multiple ship hits in a given system...so I pick 1 that looks good by clicking on it in the scan results. so far so good. now i need to reposition my 4 probes around my chosen hit, problem is, when I deactivate all probes but 1 to make sure it's covering the hit and then switch thru indivual probes doing the same, Eve decides to UNSELECT my hit and display EVERY red dot again This is an incredible PITA especially when you are in a system giving you 30 or 40 hits in close proximity to the 1 you are trying to accurately place probes over.
Has it always been like this and I have just forgotten or am I experiencing a bug. Basically, when I select ONE HIT in the scanner, I want it to remain displaying ONLY THAT HIT even if I am activating/deactivating my probes.
Help would be greatly appreciated even if it is "you ******, you just forgot to do XYZ" |

Hi, cannot confirm or deny it by now, tbh i did never de-/reactivated any probes at all. my fair guess is, that both, the probe-selection and the result-selection share the same list so if you select a probe you deselect a result. i will try this out and update you with my results. did you try this also on the testserver ? since it is running a different version currently, you may have different behaviour. |

Originally by: Kryz Terriq Edited by: Kryz Terriq on 24/06/2009 13:42:00 i can confirm this. it seems to only happen if you activate or deactivate probes in the "probes in space" list. other cases, like right-click, and changing scan-range for a single probe, do not affect the "Scan result" selection.
This also happens on the Singularity Testserver, Build 6.12.93518. I cannot see why this should be intendend. I recommend filing a bug report - i will probably do it later.
Thx Kryz, I've filed a bug report. I am fairly certain this was not happening before I had a break from eve, i think only since i re-installed the client. Hopefully we get some word from CCP on this at some point.

Ok so i used a workaround to carry on scanning, basically just making a note of the hit number and manually selecting it each time the client deselects it. This has lead me to discover another (2 ?) issues.
1. when I recover ONE probe of the 5 in space, Eve decides to bring TWO probes back instead.
2. despite half decent probing skills (not the best but certainly not the worst), covops bonuses and the fact that I never had a problem getting warpable hits before reinstalling the client....despite this, i have managed to get ONE WARPABLE HIT in two days. As soon as I narrow range and place 4 probes on a hit it disappears on the next scan.

The current scanning system is very bugged for combat.
I get 100% hits with 5 probes set up in a pyramid narrow it down and still cannot warp to 100% hits even when there is just one hit, even if I then narrow and rescan same thing.
Other times I get 100% hit and can warp to it straight away.
If I get this bug I pull them back and start again.
Also whilst moving setting up and recovering probes I get terrible lag for no reason for 30 seconds to a minute.
Oh and the probe interface is probably the worst thing I have ever used.
