What i mean to ask is..who should I be running missions for. Seems like there a countless corps out there. I have no idea where to even start. I have been running L1 missions for Federation Navy. Am I stuck running missions for these guys or is there some other corp I should be working for? Any adivce or feedback on the matter would be greatly appreciated

You can pretty much run missions for any corp/faction. Slowly your standings will however drop and you'll be unable to switch factions below -2 standing. If you run missions for Gallente you'll also gain Minmatar standing, but your Caldari and Amarr standings will drop.
The corporation which you choose to run missions for will effect the agents you'll have available and the LP store rewards the corporation offers. By comparing these you can find good ones. You'll probably want to have decent level 3 and level 4 agents that are located in high sec space.
From the storyline missions you'll gain faction standings which will allow you to run missions for any of the corporations in the faction. You'll get storyline missions after completing 12(?) missions.
Most people seem to run missions for the navies. So the LP store rewards tend to be oversupplied. |

In choosing agents, people usually ask themselves the following questions:
- Do I want to do combat missions, cargo transport missions, or mining missions? What type of mission an agent gives you depends on what division they're in within their NPC corporation. A corporation like the Navy has many many combat-related divisions, and very few transport divisions. Here's a list of divisions, and you can click on each and see the corps that will have that division.
- Why am I running missions? Is it just for cash, or do I also care about the faction changes that result from running missions? Typically as you do missions, your faction will increase with one corp/empire, and decrease with the opposite empire. The faction store for various corps may have special ships, special implants, or other rare goodies available for you, once you've done a lot of missions.
- Where are the agents? Some are in lowsec, some are in 0.0, some are in high-sec. Depending on how safe you want to be, you may need to research and pick an agent. Or two. Or a whole progression of them from level 1 to level 4 agents. |

Also you don't have to run missions at all if you don't want to. |

Additionally, an agent in a high-sec system within 1-3 jumps of a low-sec system may well send you to that low-sec. Low-sec missions, hi-sec rewards - no thanks :) --

The four navies (Amarr Navy, Republic Fleet, Caldari Navy, Federation Navy) are all good choices. They have lots of agents and are primarily combat based. For combat missions, you'll want agents in the Security, Internal Security, or Command divisions.
There are plenty of other good corporations out there, depending on what you want to do in your EVE life. Eventually it comes down to the level 4 agents you'll be running missions for. Let's say for example you find a lowsec system with five level 4 quality 20 agents in it. That could be a system you live in and inhabit for months... but you've got to work up standings with the NPC corp first.
Don't worry about that at this early stage, though.

Well, here are my reasons:
1. Corporations in systems that I frequently find myself mining in, or near. The owners of the station don't charge a refining tax if my standing is 6.67 or higher.
2. Corporations with research agents that offer the highest number of datacores per day for the ones I use.
3. Corporations that have stuff in their loyalty point store I want.
4. Corporations that occupy trade hubs for a break on trading fees (like Caldari Navy for Jita). Similar for manufacturing stations I frequently use. |
