I was just curious what ships would be recommended for each respected ship type for Gallente. I convinced my roommate to start a account a few weeks ago and he headed my advice and trained up learning skills for a while. Now he's almost ready to start training for ships for missioning. I made a bunch of mistakes when I was choosing ships to fly when my character was younger. I used a Breacher instead of a Rifter and thus started training up the wrong skill set for the race. Then I used the Stabber instead of the Rupture when I hit cruisers and had a rough time in missions.
I'm trying to make his transition from WoW into this game a smooth one so he wants to stick around...I the whole learning/support skills was a pretty tough concept to get through to him since he wants to fly new ships now.
I'm still quite the noob so I don't know what to tell him about Gallente ships. Any advice would be welcome, I'm not sure what he's flying now but I'll ask him when I get home from work. |

Blasters: who cares because any frigate can do any l1 -> thorax -> brutix -> mega/hyperion Drones: lol frigates -> vexor -> myrm -> domi
Drones are the recommended path here. Also race/class? J/w.

Gallente aren't the fastest mission runners around but they're fairly comfortable to mission with.
In any case,
Incursus/Tristan ---> Vexor ---> Myrmidon ---> Dominix ---> Kronos (optional tbh)

As far as missioning goes - any Lvl 1 mission can be spanked by a range/rail fit destroyer (catalyst for gallente).
Train up hybrid turrets and destroyers and grind lvl 1s while raising standings for a lvl 2 agent.
As for lvl 2s - don't underestimate the increase in difficulty for a new character piloted by a player with less knowledge of game mechanics/missioning info resources. Your best bet for a missioning boat is to train the skills you need for a Vexor. You'll need to be able to use t1 medium drones or t2 small drones, a 10mn afterburner, a small armour repper and capacitor recharge modules.
Train up the skills to use a salvager module as well as this will really help your isk income.
From here on it it gets tougher - it will take you quite a long time to grind up the standings to get to level 3s.
From here on in - perfect your core skills (fitting skills, capacitor skills) - they are very valuable for later game play.
This will seems pretty vague but not knowing what you buddy's goals/playstyle is, there's not much else anyone will be able to add constructively.
Bare in mind though - the grind for missions is really boring if that's all you're aiming for. Eve is a MMORPG (stating the obvious i know!) and as a result, it becomes a whole lot more enjoyable once you start interacting with the other people playing it.
In my opinion - your buddy's best bet is to lvl up to flying a cruiser to use lvl 2 missions (including loot and salvage) for income. Then head back to the start - get in a cheap t1 fit, t1 frigate, read a couple of pvp threads/guides then head out and get into some fights.
A t1 incursus can cause some tears in the right hands.
Try a few low sec roams, try can baiting, try ninja salvaging, join a player owned corp, do some fleet ops.
Then rinse and repeat - move up to lvl 3 missions for income - buy a t1 cruiser - t1 fit it and go fight in that.
So there's one plan for the next couple of months at least - have fun.

I would skip BC's
That is just me...
With Domi's going for 52 million isk, why pick up a Brutix or mrym...
Assuming new player..
Any frig but tristan is nice.
Get a catalyst asap and sleep in level 1 missions. go vexxor while training guns and drones. Run level 2 and 3's Move to Domi during level 3 and sleep through level 4's...
A wow player will most likely like having drones, give oyu a little more to do while fighting as well as some cool options. |

The imicus used to have a drone damage bonus but there was a silent (?) nerf of it to become a drone range bonus... so yeah tristan/incursus. But if he's going the drone route anyways it's a nice start 3 drones yeah. |

to me... gallente is all about drones and versatility. less about the turrets. that being said, i did this and had no regrets:
vexor --> ranis + ishkur --> vexor (yay, t2 heavies) --> ishtar --> dominix --> ishtar (yay t2 sentries)
just one thing though... id definitely train up t2 sentries first. overall theyre more usefull than t2 heavies in both pvp and pve |

For PVE:
Thorax======>Brutix==>Megathron\\ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dominix Vexor====>Myrmidon=========>//
Reasoning is simple:, domi makes an awesome drone boat that's insanely easy to get into and fly in lvl 4s. Then, as your skills progress, you fit less tank (and eventually a shield tank) and go with more, bigger guns. End result is a shield tanked 425mm railgun wielding sentry domi that puts out over 1000 DPS and rips through missions better than almost any other ship in the game.
Basically regardless of which specialization you choose you will eventually end up better off merging the 2 to make an uber dominix.
For pvp, the whole drones/guns thing won't matter as much, if you want a HAC you fly the drone wielding ishtar, you want a recon you fly the railgun using arazu, most tech II gallente ship classes have one good and one bad ship, and you'll quickly learn which ones are which.
Much like the domi is a split weapon boat when used properly in pve, in pvp the domi (and it's little brother the navy vexor, IMO the most badass of all the gallente pvp ships) will need both blaster and drone skills to be used properly. |

I agree, except the myrmidon is a side path and not a predecessor to the domi(or not a successor to the vexor if you wish). Same as the ishtar, which by the way can be almost equal to the domi.
