I know price fluctuate, especially at a local level etc blah blah. And fotm fads come and go.
But all salvage and rigs have steadily gone cheaper and cheaper over the past 2 or 3 months.
Do you think its because more people are missioning and less ships are being lost or do you think maybe its because of the increasing popularity of ninja salvaging? Or do you have any other ideas.
Im mostly just curious.
Wherever you went - Here you are.

More mission runners is my best bet. Don't worry, at one point it won't be profitable anymore, people will stop bothering and rigs will skyrocket. But in the mean time, just enjoy your rigs and buff up those pvp ships of yours.

I would have to say ninja salvaging and more explorers in general. With the new exploration system it is very easy to scan a ship or mag site down in a minute or less.

Missioning is the current fad and since China farmers started switching from mining to missioning their high volume of drops started impacting on the game.

Now to figure out the pattern of when these ban waves occur |

Ive never noticed a exact pattern but if you watch the high level Hardwiring market its a good guild. ie CR-8's if they are hovering around 80-90 buy price and 90-100 sell price then farmers are running wild and its time to stock up. After a ban they will spike to 130+ sometime 200m if the ban stick hits big. either way its a good investment if you have piles of isk lying around. |

and here I was thinking I should buy salvage as CCP has had on their want list the ability to turn t1 salvage into t2 |

Well if past history is any guide they will make the conversion rate so bad that no one will bother with it. |

there is also the rumor of sized rigs approaching, but they should change anything since existing rigs will be the 'large' varient - In essence, any combat related activity involving damage has been 'speed nerfed' to just take 6 times longer with a predetermined outcome coined balance by CCP. |

This is hard to predict. Salvage will surely climb at least a bit, since everyone will want a cheap rig for their little ship.
But, demand for the current rigs (now large) will drop due to a big chunk of the demand shifting away. Then again, how many people really outfit their frigates with rigs today?

Not many.
Any real pricing downside risk is if medium size rigs drop enough to compensate for rising frigate demand, but at the same time not enough to get people to rig out their BCs regularly.
I don't think that'll be an issue but hey, it could happen
